Hi I'm Vonn.

I enjoy basketball, tennis, board games, travel, languages, and music. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

Both my wife and I are practicing attorneys. I play basketball during the week, and my wife and I enjoy going out to eat on the weekends and getting together with friends to play board games. Sundays are specially dedicated to attending church, spending time with family, and visiting people in need. My wife and I are parents to three young boys, who are full of energy. It is both humbling and exciting to be a father. I am constantly seeking for new things to learn and experience - whether in food, or travel, or activities - but being a husband and father tops them all. When I was young, my mom taught me to "Live Daily, But Think Eternally." I have tried to live my life in accordance with that statement ever since, and I hope to instill that same principle in the lives of my children.

Why I am a Mormon

I was raised in an active Mormon household. However, around the time when I was 14 years old, I felt the need to truly learn for myself whether the teachings of the church were true. I had read through the Book of Mormon previously, and I knew of Moroni's promise that I could ask God, in the name of Christ, whether the Book of Mormon was true, and that if I asked "with a sincere heart, with real intent, having faith in Christ, he will manifest the truth of it unto you, by the power of the Holy Ghost." Moro. 10:4. I determined to put this promise to the test, to pray and ask if the Book of Mormon truly was of God. Although I did not receive an answer to my prayer that first night, I continued to pray for an answer each night before I retired to bed. Later that same week I received an unmistakable witness from God in answer to my prayers. I was filled with a wonderful spirit of peace and love, and I felt as if God himself had reached down from heaven enveloping me in His loving arms. I knew at that moment that God loved me, and that the Gospel of Christ was true. I have since had many similar experiences to reaffirm my testimony of God's love and of His teachings, but I look back with much gratitude at this first witness to me of God's love and of the reality of His divine truths in my life.

How I live my faith

As an attorney, I am involved in a number of local clubs and organizations that cater especially to lawyers. Too often, fellow members of the legal community become disillusioned and overwhelmed by the stresses and conflicts associated with this type of work. My faith not only provides me with an important moral compass when facing life's challenges, but it also helps me to keep life's priorities in check and to maintain a proper balance between work, family, God, and community. In addition to my work, I am also active politically, and participate in a variety of different community events and activities. My faith encourages me to be involved in loving and serving my neighbors, and in striving to improve the community where we live. In church, I am assigned to work closely with our full-time missionaries, to assist them with their teaching, and to ensure that their needs are being met so that they can dedicate their full attentions to preaching the Gospel. My wife and I also enjoy the wonderful associations and friendships that come with church membership, and we meet together often with our fellow church members to encourage and strengthen one another and to inquire after each other's general welfare.
