Hi I'm Katie Teller

I'm a Mormon. I'm Aussie, but now live in the U.S. I'm a wife, mother, student and published author.

About Me

I grew up in the Blue Mountains west of Sydney, Australia. I went to a tiny primary school, then went to an academically selective high school, but was more interested in my extracurricular activities like choirs, singing, and sports than my academics. After graduating, I went on a student exchange to Arizona where I went to high school, participated in local youth programs, and I met my future husband who I would marry four years later. I returned to Australia and began working to be a travel agent, but decided instead to go to University to study health science. I never completed that, though, because I moved to the U.S. again to marry. My husband and I now have two little girls. I also have several books published, my most popular being the Kiya Trilogy. After several years, I've returned to school to finish studying, but this time, I'm working toward being an English teacher.

Why I am a Mormon

The gospel has so many wonderful truths and principles to testify of. I grew up in the church and my parents taught me well and I was baptised at 8, but it took me until I was a teenager to really understand how important the gospel is to me. At the end of my 9th grade year, my attitude changed and the gospel became my top priority. I resolved to go to seminary the next year and read the Book of Mormon all the way through, not going to places where I couldn't bring the Holy Ghost with me, and last I decided to learn how to recognize the promptings of the Spirit. As we are taught Satan gives you his worst when you are trying to change. when I returned to school the following year it seemed like ever person in my whole grade was against me. But the Lord was with me, and the more I held onto Him the tighter He held onto me by teaching me true doctrines to rebuke their false ones, and at times giving me the courage to simply walk away. I see now it was my refiners fire and it made me strong and as painful as those memories are, I am grateful He was willing to allow me to go through them and I know that's because He knows all things and loves me. During that time I read the Book of Mormon the whole was through and gained a powerful testimony of its truthfulness. Joseph Smith was truly inspired by God as he translated the book and the truths within it really are for us in this time. The Gospel is true, the Prophets are the Lord's mouthpieces here on this earth, families are eternal. There is life after death, and the Lord has a plan for me and everyone if we just listen. I cannot express in words my love for this gospel and for our Savior and all he did for me. I know he has always been with me loving me and guiding me, and if I were the only person to ever sin or hurt He still would have atoned for just me. I hope I can live up to His love, and to be a good example and to love everyone I come across so that they can see the Savior and come to Him.

How I live my faith

I do my best to be an example for my daughters by following Christ. I also work at an elementary school, and I do my best to show the kids there Christ-like love and service.
