Hi I'm Portia

I was born and raised in the southern United States, a corn bread lovin' country girl, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a wife, mother, and grandmother. I am very blessed to have a loving family. I enjoy family history and genealogy and appreciate my southern roots.

Why I am a Mormon

When I was 13 years old, two missionaries knocked on our door. My family and I listened to what they had to say, and the Holy Spirit bore witness that it was true. My testimony continues to grow as I live the principles of the gospel of Jesus Christ. I know that we have a Father in Heaven who loves us and wants us to be happy. Jesus Christ is our Savior and Redeemer, and I know that having faith in Him and following His example is the only way we can live in the presence of God the Father and Jesus Christ for eternity.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by studying the scriptures and praying daily. This helps me to keep my faith strong and to have strength to overcome temptations. I enjoy working in the women's organization in our church. We support and uplift each other to be better people and help those in need.

What does Mormonism teach regarding baptism?

Portia
We believe that baptism is a commandment and is essential to the plan of salvation. When we are baptized, we make sacred covenants to remember and obey the Savior. Baptism is how we become a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. We believe in baptism by immersion as a symbol of the death, burial, and resurrection of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, and of our desire to live a better life. Show more Show less
