Hi I'm Cory

I'm a gamer. I love computers. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm 20 and i love electronics, computers especially. I love to mess around on a computer with programs, hang out on the internet, take apart a computer and put it back together, really anything and everything. I'm also a big gamer, i play on xbox all the time with games like Halo, Call of Duty, Gears of War, etc. Along with that i plan on going to college and getting a bachelors degree in computer science with an emphasis on 3D animation. I'm sure ill do the air force ROTC program as well because i've always liked the idea of the military and its a great way to get a step up on life. Outside of that i like to do a ton of outdoor sports. I like to go snowboarding, wakeboarding, rock climbing, hiking, swimming play soccer, football, golf, and recently i started picking up tennis.

Why I am a Mormon

I've lived in a Mormon family my whole life, but everyone regardless of how they grew up has to make the decision themselves. At some point we have to think about the things we've been taught and do exactly what we ask others to do; pray about it to receive an answer from God. So in reality, we all are converts because we have to be spiritually converted whether we are born into it or not. I love the church for that exact reason. You're not expected to just believe what you're told, its a matter you have to take to God and find out for yourself. The reason I'm a member is because i agree with the standards we follow, the atmosphere is very loving, and because i know its true through answers to prayers i've received.

How I live my faith

I like to actively participate in our church by being a missionary. For 2 years i've dedicated all of my time and attention to going out and serving people. We get up at 6:30, go out at 10:00 and come home at 9:00. We do all sorts of community service from working at local food pantry's, nursing homes, hospitals, even down to just asking someone if theres anything we can help them out with. Along with being a missionary, we go around and teach people about Christ. We try to help people gain a stronger faith in Him, or try to help them gain faith if they dont already have it. As i said before one thing we teach more often than anything is about prayer and how we dont expect anyone to just believe from us telling them, but that they can pray about it and find out.

What do Mormons believe about the nature of God?

This is one thing that is very important to know. The nature of God, everything he does is "to bring to pass the immortality and eternal life of man." Simply put, he wants us to come back to live with Him again and be able to have Eternal Happiness. Every commandment He gives, ever trial He allows to come into our life, everything thing that happens is a way for us to grow and learn to be able to be happy forever rather than just temporarily. Its also important to realize our relationship with Him. If you hear us talk about God or pray to him you will likely hear us refer to Him as our "Heavenly Father." This is because He is our literal Father in Heaven who has all the characteristics and motives that a "perfect father" would have in relationship with his children. Because He knows everything there is to know, He also knows how to best help us learn, grow, and be happy. We may not always see it that way, the same way we may not see it as children when our parents tell us not to do something, but there is a reason behind it that we dont see with our limited view. What is The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints' attitude regarding homosexuality and same sex marriage?

The church's view is that of the scriptures view and that of modern revelation it is a sin, however let me clarify. One thing that must be understood about this view is that it is not unlike any other view we have on the subject of Chastity and Temptation. No one said that its not ok to be tempted, part of life is being tempted by Satan to do something that goes contrary to God's laws and this situation is not different. Its ok to be tempted, but its not ok to ACT on that temptation. Its very much like God's view on premarital sex, it violates God's commandment. Its ok to have those urges or temptations, yet not ok to act on those urges. So in all reality, its no different than any of Gods other commandments.  Show more Show less

Do Mormons worship Joseph Smith?

Of course not. We revere Joseph Smith as a prophet much like Abraham, or Moses from the bible. Outside of that we are just grateful for all of the persecution and struggles he went through to restore the church through Christ. We worship Jesus fully and completely, hence "The Church of JESUS CHRIST of Latter-day Saints." "And we talk of Christ, we rejoice in Christ, we preach of Christ, we prophesy of Christ, and we write according to our prophecies, that our children may know to what source they may look for a remission of their sins." - 2 Nephi Chapter 25, Verse 26 Show more Show less
