Hi I'm Connor

I'm a scratch golfer, and I am a Mormon

About Me

I grew up in southern Utah (about as southern as Utah comes),and I just finished serving a mission for the Church in the California, Santa Rosa Mission. I grew up on the golf course. I started playing at age 6 and have enjoyed not only the sport itself but the lessons I have learned as well. I don't know why but for some reason the golf course helps me relax. It has helped me through the trials that I had in life and I will be forever grateful for the lessons that I have learned on the golf course. I will be going to Southern Utah University. I will be playing golf for them, majoring in Graphic Design and Advertising. I love to live life to the fullest and I am so grateful for the opportunity that I had to be a missionary and see the blessings that this gospel brings into the lives of others.

Why I am a Mormon

So I am going to be honest, I grew up in the church. My father was a convert but I have known nothing else. Even though I grew up in the church I still had to find out for myself if the things I was learning were true. So that is exactly what I did. I knelt down and asked, "Is this true, and is the Book of Mormon the word of God?" I felt a calmness come over me and I just knew that I was in the right place and should serve a mission. I always think back to how my life would be without the church in my life. I can honestly say that I am glad that I made that choice to ask my Father in Heaven if these things were true. Knowing that they are true gives me hope for the future. It has given me purpose, and I love it.

How I live my faith

Currently I am living my faith the best I can. I have just finished devoting my life to serving the Lord fully these past two years. I read and prayed everyday, I still do, as well as shared my testimony with all those that I came in contact with. There is no greater joy than to see someones life change and to come to Christ. I did not serve because I was forced to, I served because I wanted to. When I share the gospel with others, it always puts a smile on my face. Of course sometimes people would say no or just completely ignore us, but that's OK. I know that I did what the Lord wanted me to do at that time in my life and I wouldn't trade that time for anything. I am now just a normal member doing normal things. I read and pray everyday as well as prepare for college. I am now focusing my attention to furthering my life and coming even closer to my Savior.

What is the Mormon lifestyle like? How do Mormons live?

The Mormon lifestyle isn't strange as some people might think. In fact if we didn't tell you we were Mormons you probably would never know. We focus a lot on our families and try to spend as much time with each other as possible. We try our hardest to do what the Lord would have us do and if we mess up, we try our hardest to never do it again. That is how we live, normal people, normal problems, normal lives. We live as Jesus Christ lived,"In the world but not of the world." We have personal prayer and scripture study every day. We attend church everyone Sunday. For me church has been my spiritual boost to get me through the week. If for some reason I can't make it, such as being sick etc.. the week never feels the same. There is a peace that comes when you know you are live how God wants you to live. And that is what we try to do. Live how God wants us to live, and that includes having fun. This is a time to have fun and enjoy life, but also a time "to prepare to meet God." Show more Show less
