Hi I'm Christie

I'm a wife, I'm a mother of two, I'm a singer, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm a born and raised Texan. I'm the youngest of 5 siblings, a happy wife, and a mother of two (my oldest is two years old). At Brigham Young University I studied Choral Music Education because music means the world to me. Music is a gift that can really bless lives! I also find great joy in teaching youth. I'm half-Mexican, but I actually learned to speak Spanish when I lived in Spain for a semester abroad. I love to travel. I served a Spanish-speaking mission for the church for 18 months in Los Angeles. I love to read, paint, relax and mediate outdoors, and learning about psychology. I hope to someday become a therapist for troubled youth or a marriage and family therapist.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because of the hope that the teachings of the Book of Mormon have brought into my life. This book is evidence that Christ's true church is back on the earth today. I have prayed to know if this book really came from God, and God Himself told me, through His Holy Spirit, that this book is true. The teachings of Jesus Christ have changed my life. Every day that I follow the gospel, I feel closer to my Father in Heaven, and His Son Jesus Christ. I know that anyone who wants to know if this is real or not can ask God for themselves. His promise is that if we ask sincerely, He will answer us. I love the Lord, and am humbled and amazed at His loving kindness and mercy towards us. He called the Prophet Joseph Smith to restore Christ's church. I know that the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is God's kingdom upon the earth. I thank the Lord for this knowledge, and invite anyone and everyone reading this to read the Book of Mormon, to ponder in their own heart the message it contains, and then to ask God directly in sincere prayer to know if it is true. I know that like myself, anyone who does this will receive an answer. It is the greatest news since the birth of the Savior Himself - that His church is back on the earth again - 100%! What a blessing indeed.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by keeping the covenants I have made. "Covenant" means a two-way promise between you and God. When we are baptized, we covenant with God that we will keep His commandments. In return, He promises to forgive us, and that we will be saved. So I live my faith by being obedient to God's commandments. I attend church every Sunday, and try to be active in additional activities during the week. In addition, pure religion is that of loving your fellow man. I try to have the pure love of Jesus Christ in my heart, always searching for ways in which I can serve others.

Do you really believe there is a prophet like Moses alive today?

Christie
Yes I do. Think about it: throughout recorded history that we have in the Bible, from the very beginning, God has communicated to His children through a prophet. It started with Adam and Eve - Adam was the first prophet. Keep in mind that we do not worship the prophet - the prophet is an ordinary man with an extraordinary calling. A prophet is God's mouthpiece. That doesn't mean we can't communicate to God in personal prayer and receive guidance in that way. But the prophet receives guidance, warnings, and revelation for the whole world. He has the authority from God to preside over God's church, and to interpret the scriptures accurately. He tells us in our modern-day language what God wants us to know for OUR day. It's such a blessing that he and the 12 Apostles can help us really understand the teachings of the Savior more fully.
