Hi I'm Cathy

I am a mother of four children. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a stay at home mom with four kids, three of which are teenagers! My days are filled trying to make sure we all end up where we need to each day. I love watching my kids participate in dance, sports, and music. I also try to find time to read and to scrapbook. I never dreamed how difficult raising children would be. My biggest concern is for my children's safety in this crazy, technological world we live in. There are so many good and positive things out there to influence our lives, but there are too many harmful things as well. My hopes for my children are that I can teach them to be good, respectful, contributing members of their communities and society as a whole. Most of all, I want my children to KNOW that they are a daughter or son of a Heavenly Father who loves them and has a special plan for them, and that their brother and Savior, Jesus Christ will always be with them to help them along through the good and the bad.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I know that Jesus Christ lives and that the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is His church on the earth today. I know that by following the teachings of my Savior that my family will be blessed and one day be together forever. I know that the scriptures were given to us to help us in our daily lives to become better people and to develop a love and appreciation of our Savior. I know that I am a child of God, of a Heavenly Father that KNOWS and LOVES me. Without this knowledge, I wouldn't be able to keep going each day. The gospel give me purpose and reason to my life and helps me know my place in God's plan.

How I live my faith

I try to live my faith on a day to day basis through scripture reading and prayer. I have the opportunity of working with the children in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. These children help me to remember who I am, a Child of God. I learn many valuable lessons from their examples of faith in a challenging world. My husband and I are doing our best to teach our children that they too are children of a loving Heavenly Father. We try to have daily scripture study and prayer with our entire family. The benefits of this habit are well worth the stress that can accompany our study and prayer. We also do our best to hold a Family Home Evening every Monday night where we can talk to our children about those things that they are struggling with and those things that can help them be better and find happiness in their lives.

What are some things that tell you there is a God?

Cathy
There are many things that tell me that there is a God, but the biggest evidence for me is in nature. The beauty of the earth around me can bring about a peace that cannot be found many other places. When I see the beautiful blue sky, with the sun shining I know that there is a God. When I see the awe and wonder of a thunderstorm and the power of the storm, I know that there is a being, even God, that has given us these storms for the benefit of the earth -- to cleanse and bring beauty to His creations. Another of my favorite creations is water -- from streams, to rivers, waterfalls, and the ocean -- there is a power and beauty in the way the water moves or crashes! Not to mention all of the living creatures that can be found there. I love all aspects of nature from flowers, to rain, to wind, to the changing seasons. Everything in nature works together for the beauty of the earth! I know that there is a God that created this beautiful earth for me! Show more Show less
