Hi I'm Jennie

I'm a wife, mother, lover of music and the outdoors. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I grew up in Southern California and am still a kid at heart. To me there is nothing better than a day at Disneyland or the beach! After the economy crashed a few years ago, we spent several years struggling with unemployment and living apart for the sake of a job, just to make ends meet. Since then we decided to take a leap of faith and moved to Hawaii. Crazy, right? Now that our family has been reunited, we live like regular people during the week and frolic in the ocean most every Saturday. Best way to reconnect ever. From the time I was a little girl I have always wanted to be a mom, and my greatest joy has been bringing six beautiful kids into the world, and staying home to raise them. Our kids range from 16- 27, 2 married and graduated from college, one in grad school, one serving a 2 year mission in Tonga, and two in high school. We are committed parents who are doing our best to raise happy, well adjusted adults even amid the storms and joys of life. Life is like the ocean- constantly changing, but there's no place I'd rather be.

Why I am a Mormon

I've never doubted that Heavenly Father knows and loves me. I remember praying as a small child and receiving real answers to my prayers. My personal conversion continued as a teenager. I attended a Youth Conference where I heard one of my peers stand and bear testimony that Heavenly Father lived and had a plan for us, and how grateful he was to know that our purpose in this life is to live by faith and be obedient so we can return home to live with Him and our families. My whole body seemed to react at once. Everything seemed brighter, and I felt a strong understanding that I had never felt before. It was a warm feeling, full of light. Since that time I have felt that same confirming feeling countless times as I learn and live the teachings of Jesus Christ. I know that even though I am far from perfect, Jesus Christ has provided the way back to our Heavenly Father's presence. I have read the Book of Mormon many times and feel closer to my Savior as I read it than any other book. It is my testimony that the original church Jesus Christ organized when he lived on the earth has been re-established on the earth, with living prophets and revelation to lead us in our day.

How I live my faith

As a family, we read from the scriptures each morning before school, and pray to understand what we read so we can live more like our Savior. We also pray for each other. Faith is a principle of action, so after we get up off our knees it's time to go to work. We try very hard to seek out those who need help and try to be an answer to their prayers. Every week we attend church meetings together as a family. I am also a member of the largest organization for women on earth called "Relief Society". The principles of strengthening our personal faith, our families and community are taught and lived as we serve each other through times of trial and joy. The true charity and compassion I have received as my "sisters" have served me has instilled a desire to do the same for others. I truly want to be a friend to all I meet, and do whatever I can to help others. I also enjoy my volunteer position as a youth leader.
