Hi I'm Kyle

I grew up in Canada. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am the youngest of 7 kids; 3 brothers and 3 sisters. All of my family lives in the US, except for my parents who live in Canada, and I'm the only Canadian in my entire family. Right now I am serving a mission in Idaho. Before I began my mission, the one thing that I enjoy more than anything is music. I like to pass time by playing piano, guitar, or drums. I definitely grew a deep appreciation for music a few years ago, and it's one thing that helps me relax and lifts me up when I'm feeling down. Some of my favorite bands are the Strokes, Radiohead, and Silversun Pickups. I also love sports, especially volleyball, because I played it all throughout high school. As I've been serving a mission, I've also learned to appreciate soccer. For a year before my mission I was attending university, and I will continue to attend after I am finished.

Why I am a Mormon

I grew up as a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, but whether you have grown up in the church or not, everyone is a convert. When I was young, I held onto my parents testimonies for most of my childhood. I had to gain a testimony of my own and really question whether what I had grown up in was really right for me. I took the invitation given in the Introduction of the Book of Mormon to heart, and really began to read, ponder, and to pray whether to know it was true. It is called the keystone of our religion because it is convincing evidence that the church had been restored through the prophet Joseph Smith. I realized that the Book of Mormon, and all the teachings of the church, had really began to "enlarge my soul" and also to "enlighten my understanding", and that's how I came to a realization that the word, compared to a seed in Alma 32 (a chapter in the Book of Mormon) was a good seed, because "it swelleth and sprouteth, and beginneth to grow" (Alma 32: 28; 33). This conversion of mine was brought forth by the Spirit, for one of the roles of the Spirit is to testify of truth, and through the Spirit I was able to know that the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Saints was the restored church, the same church that Jesus Christ himself had established when he was personally ministering on the earth. I have a love for the Book of Mormon because it is able to answer the questions of the soul. It is able to give purpose to my life, helping me know why I'm here, and also letting me know that this life isn't the end. It lets me know what I need to do so I can return and live with my Heavenly Father again with my family forever. It's also able to help me know how I can better myself, as I apply it's teachings into my own life. And most importantly, it is "Another Testament of Jesus Christ". Both the Bible and the Book of Mormon bring the fullness of the gospel, and are both evidences and testimonies of Jesus Christ and His teachings.

How I live my faith

I live my faith at the moment by sharing my love for the gospel of Jesus Christ with others as a full-time missionary. I have served for about a year, and continue to find joy in sharing the truths and knowledge that has been restored by a loving Heavenly Father through a living prophet to the earth today with others. The teachings of the LDS church have brought both me and my family happiness and joy, and we have been very blessed because of it. For this reason, I have made the commitment and sacrifice to postpone my education and a career to give my full attention to Jesus Christ, and serve as a minister and representative of Him for 2 years. We invite others to come unto Christ, and to see how the restored gospel will bless their lives and their families.
