Hi I'm Arleen

I'm a stay at home mom and a Mormon.

About Me

I married my sweetheart over 25 years ago. I have five children and I'm expecting my first grandchild this summer (yeah!). I just returned to college and finished the bachelors degree in special education that I started over 30 years ago. I enjoy reading, music, family history research, walking my dog and working with children.

Why I am a Mormon

My parents raised me in the Mormon faith. However, when I was a teenager I decided that I needed to make my own choice about religion. I figured that the only one who could tell me if the Book of Mormon was the word of God was God Himself. So I read the Book of Mormon cover to cover and prayed. I asked my Heavenly Father to let me know if the Book of Mormon was truely His word. I received a calm assurance to my heart and mind that the Book of Mormon was indeed His word and that the path I was following was pleasing to Him. I gained a testimony, independent from my parents, of the truthfulness of the Gospel of Jesus Christ found in the teachings of Book of Mormon.

How I live my faith

I am currently teaching music to the children of the church. Although teaching them songs is really fun, I mostly focus on teaching them how to live the gospel concepts that are found in the songs. I truely have the best job in the entire church. I also volunteer at our community hospital by tutoring children who are too ill to be attending public schools. I mostly try to live my faith by being kind and helpful to those people I meet during the day.

Can a husband and wife be together forever? Do Mormons believe that families will live together in heaven?

Arleen
My husband and I made a marital covenant with our Heavenly Father in the temple. We were given the promise that if we kept the commandments, our family would then be sealed together forever and not even death could break that union. We found great comfort in this promised blessing especially when we lost our first daughter to death. Although our hearts were broken and we grieved for her, we knew that in heaven we would once again be able to hold her and care for her. This promise has brought us much peace. Show more Show less
