Hi I'm Darrick Earley

I'm a gamer, a bit of a beach bum, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

Hi, my name is Darrick Alden Earley. I'm 2nd youngest of 7 kids (not all from same parents). I graduated from Columbia High School in West Columbia, TX. Still trying to decide what to do for a career. Spent most of my time on the xbox, roaming around with friends, or at the beach. I'm not much for sports, but I do like playing basketball. I have some heart problems, so I can't play too hard, but I play as much as I can. I also enjoy just driving. I don't think I can call myself a car enthusiast just yet, but I'm getting there. I'm a missionary serving in the Utah Salt Lake City West Mission.

Why I am a Mormon

Originally, it was just because my mom's a member. But over the years I have developed my own testimony through scripture study, prayer, and being active in my priesthood callings. Because of the wonderful experiences I've had with the Spirit, nothing could make me deny that the fullness of the gospel has been restored. And that's why I've chosen to go out and share this message with as many others as I can. So they can have that happiness as well.

How I live my faith

I heard a quote that says "your actions can either build someone's faith, or destroy it". I couldn't live with knowing I destroyed someone's faith, so I try to always live and act in a way that helps build people's faith in Christ. Throughout my life, I've basically just tried to be a good example. I've made mistakes, but when I do I apply the Atonement of Christ and hopefully show to others that no matter what, you can always make a change for the better.

Are Mormons Christians?

Darrick Earley
Yes. Jesus Christ is the center of our religion and we try to follow his example. Show more Show less

What will the Mormon missionaries talk about when they visit my home?

Darrick Earley
They will talk to you about the Plan of Salvation (or Plan of Happiness). It will answer the questions that everyone asks about at some point. Such as: "why are we here?", "where did we come from?", and "what happens after this life?" Show more Show less

How do I become a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (Mormon Church)?

Darrick Earley
You become a member of the Church through baptism and confirmation. We do baptism by immersion, and then someone with priesthood authority will lay their hands on your head and confirm you a member of the Church and give you the gift of the Holy Ghost. Show more Show less

Why do Mormons baptize their new members?

Darrick Earley
Christ taught that baptism is a part of His gospel and is something we must do to follow Him. We must be baptized by someone who hold the priesthood authority of God. When we're baptized, we make a covenant (or promise) with our Heavenly Father to follow His commandments. In exchange, He promises to forgive our sins and let us return to live with Him. Basically, we promise to leave our old, sinful life behind, and begin a new life of following Jesus Christ. Show more Show less

What is faith?

Darrick Earley
Faith is to "hope for things which are not seen, which are true" (Book of Mormon, Alma 32:21 and Hebrews 11:1). But faith is more than just believing. It requires action. When we have real faith in Jesus Christ and Heavenly Father, we have a sincere desire to keep their commandments and do as they would do. As we keep their commandments and recognize the blessings that come from doing so, our faith will constantly increase. Show more Show less
