Hi I'm Carly

I love life. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

My name is Carly. I'm twenty-one years old. I was born and raised in Texas. I am currently a junior at Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah. My major is Nursing and my minor is Music. I love to play any kind of music from my instruments which include violin, piano, cello, and voice. One of my favorite things to do in the world is to be with my friends and family. I love helping people, and making them happy.

Why I am a Mormon

I was blessed to be born to good parents who made the choice to have the gospel in their lives and teach it to their children. I grew up loving and trusting them. When I was around fourteen, I began to have my own doubts and fears about whether or not this church was for me. I decided to study and pray about it. One night, I knelt by my bed and asked God if He would allow me to know for myself if The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints was true. I remember the moments after this sincere prayer quite vividly. I sat by my bed and was just thinking about my prayer. I look over at my scriptures case and pull out my For the Strength of Youth pamphlet. It falls open to the picture of Jesus Christ. Looking at that picture, I am suddenly overcome by this feeling of love from my Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ. I knew that I was in the right place, and doing the right thing. This moment has stayed with me since then, and reminds me in my moments of weakness and through the trial of my faith that I am a part of God's work. I know that this Church is true. I know that Joseph Smith restored the gospel in it's fullness, and that he translated the Book of Mormon. I know that the Book of Mormon is true scripture, along with the Bible. What the scriptures teach get me through life. I know that Thomas S. Monson is the prophet that leads and guides us today. The gospel has made me who I am today, and continues to shape my life and others around me for the better.

How I live my faith

I love serving my fellow members of this church. For the past year and a half I have served as the pianist for the kids in Primary. I loved serving in this capacity because I was able to see the children every week, and see their faces light up as they learned, laughed, and sang songs together. The simple truths they learn, and teach me and the other teachers in return are beautiful. I've learned so much. I have now recently been asked to play piano for the adult women in their meeting each Sunday. I have also been volunteering as the organist for our Sacrament meeting every other month. I love serving the church through music. In my community, I try to be a good neighbor, and a good example to others. I have also found that the positive outlook that I have been given through the gospel, has been a light to others in their times of need.
