Hi I'm Shaynee

I've lived in beautiful North Carolina for the majority of my life. I'm a wife, mother and I'm Mormon.

About Me

I'm thirty, have been married for nearly twelve years and have two amazing children. Once we had kids I put everything else on the back burner to be a stay at home mom. There was nothing better than being with my children every day, watching them grow and become their own little people. Now that they are both in school I am going back to college to pursue nursing. I love reading, movies, scrapbooking, card-making and the outdoors.

Why I am a Mormon

I grew up in a christian family, but didn't actually start going to church, a baptist church, until I was thirteen. I went to church twice on Sundays and again on Wednesday nights but never felt a peace while I was there. It was always stories that led to brimstone and fire. That doesn't mean I thought the church was bad, or that I never enjoyed it, but there was something missing. I had questions that were never really answered, and some I didn't realize I had until years later when I started attending a Mormon church. There was a different atmosphere, one of love and peace that I had never before experienced. I loved it and knew that was what I wanted when I was in church. It was after that feeling that I talked with the missionaries and had them teach me all about what the Mormons believe. All of those questions that had and even the ones I hadn't known I had were answered. It all fell into place and made perfect sense to me. God knew me inside and out and loved me anyways. He knew I would sin so He made this way for me to repent, be forgiven and to live with Him. It's really that simple. Simple doesn't mean easy, but I give it my best try every day and am so grateful for His love.

How I live my faith

I've had many different opportunities to participate in church callings. My absolute favorite has been teaching children in Primary. I have always been a shy person, and when I was called, or asked, if I would teach children I wanted to say no, I didn't think I could get up in front of a class full of kids and teach. I said yes, and ended up loving to prepare lessons and activities for these kids that weren't even mine, but that I grew to love. It was amazing to watch them grow from young inquisitive children to thoughtful young men and young women. I enjoyed have the opportunity not only to help them to learn about the gospel and to grow spiritually, but it helped strengthen my own testimony of Jesus Christ and Our Heavenly Father as well.

Why do Mormons believe in the Bible?

Because it's the word of God. It's filled with stories of real people who lived in long ago. People who were blessed beyond measure, people who went through unimaginable trials, and people who were disobedient to God's commandments. It teaches us how we should live our lives. Show more Show less
