Hi I'm Denice Floyd

I like genealogy, baking, decorating and eating cupcakes. I play the piano and organ and love my grandkids. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I love my family and I enjoy doing family history, or genealogy work. I enjoy playing the piano and organ. I like baking, decorating and eating cupcakes. I am the mother of 6 children and 19 grandchildren and see them as often as I possibly can. I had an opportunity to live in Ireland for a year and had the best time seeing as much as I could and visiting the places from which some of my ancestors immigrated. I have also had a wonderful time traveling to various places around the world, England, France, Italy, Mexico, to name a few.

Why I am a Mormon

When I was young I used to have dreams about "Castles". I was very intrigued by them, I even had a particular "Castle" that I hoped would be mine someday. Imagine my surprise when years later after I met and married my husband I found "my castle". We were traveling through Salt Lake City and there was the castle I had dreamed about. I said to my husband who at that time was a less active member, "I have to get in there." He told me that it was a very special place of worship and that it took a "Temple Reccommend" to go inside. When we returned home I investigated the Church of Jesus Christ (the Mormon Church) and learned about the Temples. I learned that you must be living a very high standard to attend the temple and that I could go there and be "sealed" for time and all eternity to my husband. I knew that this is what I wanted and had been prepared for all my life. I joined the Mormon Church because of this and many other experiences that I have had concerning it's truthfulness.

How I live my faith

When I was young I used to think often about who I was really. I would lay on a hill at a park at look at the immense space of clouds and sky ask myself questions like, Who am I?, Where did I come from? What will happen to me when I die? I had never had these questions answered in a way I could understand them before I had joined the Mormon Church. I now know I am a daughter of a Heavenly Father who loves me. He sent his only begotten son, Jesus Christ to live on earth and provide the example of how we should live. He sacraficed His life for me and all of us to provide the opportunity for us to repent and try to live as He did. I know as I study scriptures, serve others and work to improve my relationship with Him, Jesus Christ, that I can be happy and have great joy in my life. Part of serving others in our church are assignments that we are given that help us to grow spiritually as well as in understanding the gospel. I am currently serving as a Gospel Doctrine Teacher in our church. It hasn't been an easy assignment for me but it has helped me study and learn more than I ever would have on my own. I love this church and the many opportunities it gives me to "give back" for the many blessings I have recieved.
