Hi I'm Garrett

I am a fisherman, snowboarder, gun shooter, MTN bike rider, crazy driver, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am currently serving a mission for the church in Oregon. I love the great outdoors which is why i love certain parts of oregon. i was raised in a great family where i was taught that work and chores come before play. So I work hard and play harder. My parents are the ones that have made a difference and impacted my life more than anyone else. I love the holidays because of the time that is spent visiting with family and friends. After the mission my plans are to go to college and hopefully find out what kind of career i want to pursue. But at the moment i am loving my life as a missionary and servant of our Savior Jesus Christ.

Why I am a Mormon

I have always wondered why i am alive on the earth today. Meaning, what is my purpose for being in existence? That question has always been on my mind and has prompted me to search out the answer and look for the truth to why we are even in existence. I have found the answers to those questions and continue to find answers to questions that I have by reading the scriptures, going to church, and especially through prayer. I have found the purpose to my life by being a member of the LDS church. I have found the happines that comes by living my life in line with God's will and keeping commandments. And since I make mistakes everyday, i have found forgiveness and peace thru our Savior Jesus Christ. My love and understanding for Him has grown and deepened since i have been a member and I know that He was our perfect example and this is what I've found the LDS church teaches. This is why I'm a mormon.

How I live my faith

I try to live my faith by doing what Jesus taught, ' If any man will do His will, he shall know of the doctrine...' I also have to continue to tell myself that no matter how hard i try to follow Him, i will always fall short. But since He said, 'My grace is sufficient', i know that because of His sacrafice i can be forgiven of my sins, aslong as I try to be obedient and love others. Being a member of the church and standing up for what i believe in is sometimes hard to do, especially when friends or others make fun of my beliefs or when the church is often times the butt end of a joke. But as Paul said, ' I am not ashamed of the Gospel of Jesus Christ', i have tried to apply that everyday and being a missionary certainly has helped. I have realized that we come closer to God and are converted when we desire those things or 'want' to follow God. Thats why we 'invite' people to hear our message instead of forcing it on them. If we want lasting results we have to have the change of our own hearts and desire it for ourselves. On the mission I have especially seen how many good people there are in the world. Religon doesn't necessarily make people good, but its a guideline or standard to follow and along the path, we change our desires to be inline with Gods will and become the better person. I believe that we are all Gods children and i dont believe that God would love some of His children more than others because of their beliefs.

Why do Mormon missionaries proselyte?

Garrett
We believe that missionary work or preaching the gospel was well taught to us by the Savior and His disciples. Romans 1014-15 mentions how important it is to preach the gospel, whether it be by word or deed. I personally had always wanted to serve a mission, and now that i have, i've experienced and seen the need for preaching the life changing and hope bringing news of Jesus Christ and God's plan and purpose for us in this life. Some people have never even heard of the bible, let alone what it teaches about, and yet they are searching for something more in their life. As the scripture in Romans stated, how are they supposed to find it if they don't know how or where to look for it. Having the knowledge of Christ as my savior has brought more hope and direstion to my life than anything else, i would love to have my friends and all others come to feel what i have found in my life.
