Hi I'm Peter

I'm from North Dakota, I'm like to take the hard path and above all I'm a Mormon.

About Me

Well... I'm a thinker of sorts... a very absent minded one. I love listening and watching people talk and have fun I find it makes life sweet. I like it most when they are happy and that's my goal each day to get atleast one person to laugh. I'm currently working my way through college to be an Engineer of the mechanical persuasion, but I love to learn and would be studying everything if I could. I enjoy biking, drawing, writing, acting, reading, photography, history, geography, cultures, singing, being a grown up kid, dicussing how to solve the worlds problems, and even math. I pretty much enjoy everything because I find variety brings vibrance to our lives and keeps the world new. Family is the most important thing in my life and following close to that is promises. I also think its important to know who I am, where my family came from, and to see people become better. I also believe that doing what you say brings peace that so hard to find in the world today. I love expanding the circle of my family too! Friends to me are family as well. And in a world that's seems to always be in turmoil I'm excited about the future depite all the confusion and mixed messages my generation faces.

Why I am a Mormon

Because it is were I feel safe and it gives me strength to believe in God. Growing up I had always been a member of the church, but it wasn't until my teenage years that I realized how much I needed God. Knowing he loves and cares about me enough to answer my prayers in a world filled with billions of people brings a feeling that is so unexpressfully happy to me. Being in the church also gives me a large family that I feel wants me to succeed at being a good person. Being Mormon as they say also has taught me so much about how to serve and help others as that's what the church's sole purpose is to lift others and help them become like Christ.

How I live my faith

I help organize events among the unmarried members of my local church so we can build each other up and I am also in charge of helping people who have chosen to join the church feel comfortable with the change. It can seem like a daunting task for a college student, but I find it also brings me and my thoughts closer to our savior Jesus Christ. I also assist local missionaries in their work, keeping things organized for them, befriending new church members or visitors that may show up. Each sunday I teach a class for those visiting for the first time about basics of Christs teachings and what we believe. It gives them a chance to ask questions too about whatever they are curious about. When I can I also talk about my faith respectfully and openly around those I know, because I want them to know more about why I believe what I do and how we all can find courage in our struggles by knowing we are children of God.

Do you really believe there is a prophet like Moses alive today?

Peter
Yes, he may not part the Red Sea like Moses did, but I believe our current prophet Thomas S. Monson has been chosen by God to guide us all to Christ and to lead his church. I also believe that when the time comes that President Monson ( the Prophet is formally addressed as President of the church) passes away God will not leave us without guidance, but will call another Prophet. What do Mormons believe about the Bible? Do they regard it as Holy Scripture and the word of God?

Peter
We believe it is the word of God given by his prophets throughout history like many others do. Sometimes we mention that we "only believe it is God's word as far as it is translated correctly", but that is because we know some of what was written in the Bible has been confused when it was copied into english and other languages. But, we believe every word the prophets spoke came from God. we also believe it records God history with the people of Israel. We also believe there is more scripture out there for the people of the Americas, and so forth. Because God loves all the people he has created and guides them as they act on their faith. What is faith?

Peter
Faith to me is to believe that God is our Heavenly Father and that he sent his son Jesus Christ to give us a way to be forgiven for sin. Faith is trusting what God says even when people think it is stupid or wrong. I've seen so far many of God's promises to me come true. I think the biggest key to faith though is being willing to act on his words. It takes courage and strength, but I think it is someting many people have and all can achieve if they choose to. Why is it important for us to take care of our bodies? Why are our bodies called temples of God in the Bible?

Peter
Many people wonder why we have rules about wearing non-revealing clothing, not having tattoos, or not drinking alchohol and other harmful drugs. The reason is because we believe that God gave our bodies as a gift and that we will have them forever. We want to show God that we are grateful for that gift by treating our bodies as something precious. Also, we believe that keeping our bodies pure creates an atmosphere that allows us to feel the Holy spirit in our lives and the messages it gives us from God. That's what we believe the Bible means when it says our bodies are a temple, it is the thing that keeps us connected spiritually to God based on how we treat it. Show more Show less
