Hi I'm Julia Powell

I grew up in California , I'm a writer, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm Julia Powell and I"m a pretty easy going person. I'm a teacher and hoping to find a teaching job for next school year. I love to write and create things. If you become my friend, then the likelihood of me writing you into my stories is high. I love books and believe that everyone should have a library -D ! I love to laugh and I'm able to spend hours laughing and talking to my friends. The idea of a wonderful time to me is simply talking.

Why I am a Mormon

I grew up in the church, but I wasn't truly converted until I was around 19 years old. I believe before that point I knew it was true, but it wasn't until after many trials did I gain my unshakable testimony. In middle and high school I wasn't well liked, and you could say I was the nerd in the back that everyone laughed at. Young womens wasn't fun because all the girls would make fun of me. For a while, I turned my back on the gospel and did my own thing. I will never forget that one Sunday morning. I was going to church because my mom made me, and stayed because I was assistant nursery leader. That particular morning, I was hungover and maybe still a little drunk when a two year old toddler walked up to me, sat on my lap, pointed to a picture of Christ, and said "He loves you." She walked away and began playing again. Those simple words spoken from the mouth of perfect child knocked me into place and helped me remember what I have forgotten. I am a child of God and He wants me back. It took some doing, but now I have firm testimony of this gospel and church. I will never drink again and will never turn my back on God again. I know this church is true without one doubt. I know that sometimes going back is the hardest thing to do and it seems so much easier to not try. But it's so worth it! You will find peace and happiness that you thought only existed in fairy tales and stories. Through Christ you may find peace in all your doings. It will not always be easy, or comfortable, but never lose faith that Christ knows what he's doing. I know this to be true without a shadow a doubt. And I say these things in the name of Jesus Christ, Amen.

How I live my faith

I will never go a Sunday without church. It settles me and gets me ready for the week to come. Although my calling is to make the relief society newsletter, I believe that I have the calling to be a disciple of Christ. This means that I go to church, I attend my weekly meetings and activities, and that all that I do and say reflects my devotion to Him. I live my faith in constant prayer and love.
