Hi I'm Laura

I'm a Mother to two precious boys, a Singer and a Teacher. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a stay at home mother and I LOVE my job! I have been a preschool, middle school and high school teacher in years past, and I find great fulfillment in teaching others. My educational background is in Child Development and Family Education. I work part-time in a hospital where I teach prenatal classes and lead tours of the maternity unit. My family means everything to me and I am so blessed to live close to both my family and my husband's family. I love updating our family blog, playing with my boys, family nights, spending time with friends, researching the latest child development trends and planning activities for the women at church.

Why I am a Mormon

I feel incredibly blessed to have been a member of the church from birth, as both of my parents were baptized members. So for as long as I can remember, attending church was just a normal part of Sunday morning. I never had a point where I ever had doubts about the church but I do remember in my early teens realizing that I needed to step out and find my own testimony of the gospel. It came at a time that I first decided to read the Book of Mormon completely. Here it is 20 years later and I can still remember kneeling in prayer and asking my Heavenly Father if what I was reading was in fact the word of God and if the Book of Mormon was true. I was completely overcome with the most peaceful, warm feeling all over and indescribable joy, and I knew right then that I had my answer. Yes, it was true and yes everything that I was raised to believe had a new meaning and purpose! Through the years, when I felt a little off course I realize that what was missing is a closeness to my Savior which comes from excersing my faith as a member of the church. I have realized that I am the most at peace and the happiest when I am not just going through the motions but truly "living" the gospel. One of the most beautiful blessings in my life is my temple marriage. My husband and children are sealed to me forever as long as I follow my Savior Jesus Christ and what immense joy that brings me! I know that I have a Savior that lives and that he knows me personally. I am in awe of the atonement that he made for me and I want to be more and more like him each day. He is my brother, my exemplar and most of all my friend. I don't know where I would be without the gospel in my life. It provides me with meaning and purpose and shines like a beacon of light to lead me back to my Heavenly Father.

How I live my faith

I enjoy serving the women at church as the Activities Chairman, singing in choir, and visiting my friends and sharing a message as a visiting teacher. The best way that I try to live my faith is by helping others, trying to encourage friends and family during trials, thinking of ways to make others around me happy and most of all trying to love others as my Savior loves them.
