Hi I'm Brooke

I have just graduated college and eagerly await the birth of my first child, and I'm Mormon.

About Me

I just graduated from BYU with a degree in Geography. I would love to work for the National Park Service, but all career plans are on hold because I will be having a little girl in July. I enjoy irish step dance, writing stories, making jewelry, reading, shopping, organizing my home and just the over all splendor of this world.

Why I am a Mormon

I was raised as a member of the Church since birth, but relied on the testimonies of others. I wavered and began to wander; I was looking for the reasons for everything in all the wrong places. It wasn't until I was diagnosed with depression that I began to see what was missing from my life. So I started to go to church again. One day I picked up the scriptures again. And soon after I got on my knees and prayed to a God I wasn't sure- but had always been told- was there. I didn't get any immediate answer. But life got easier to live, and soon I was able to smile again. I felt lighter and happier, and although I still have a lot of questions I know that the happiness and peace that came back into my life were from living the gospel. I believe with all my heart that God IS there and that He loves me. I believe that He sent Jesus Christ to atone for our sins. I will never question that belief again.

How I live my faith

I regularly visit the sisters in my ward to let them know I'm there for them. I have also spent the past several months teaching the children in our ward songs about the gospel.

What are some things that tell you there is a God?

Just look around. I have found proof from every natural thing and process in this world that there is a God. All of the little moving pieces in place are just miraculous. On every level creation is just too complex for there not to be a creator behind it. From the leaves budding today to the mountains and valleys that were formed hundreds of thousands of years ago. I just don't think it can be coincidence. That's actually why I chose to study Geography in college- the more I learn about this earth the more I learn about Him. Aside from nature, I see proof of His existence in every face I see. After learning about genetics in high school Biology I found it a complete miracle that any of us here and that most of us are as "normal" as we are. The baby forming inside me at this moment started from something smaller than the period at the end of this sentence, and someday she will be a full grown human being. I find it all a little too miraculous and complex to be spontaneous. The hands of God must be behind it. Show more Show less
