Hi I'm Travis

and I am Mormon

About Me

I was born and raised in Southern California. I have 5 brothers and no sister. I love to go to the beach and surf with my friends whenever I have time. I grew up wakeboarding and going to the Colorado River every summer with my family. I play soccer and basketball, and enjoy other outdoor activities as well. I recently got married to the love of my life and we live in China where I work. We do not have kids, but we do have a pet tortoise named Gary. I enjoy work, spending time with my wife, traveling, and exercise. When I am not working I spend my time reading and playing, playing cards with my wife, or working on a new hobby.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born into a family that has a strong heritage of being Mormon. I was baptized at the age of 8 into The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, however I would not say that is why I am and continue to be Mormon today. I love my family very much, but like all families mine was imperfect and faced many challenges. My mother died from cancer when I was 10 years old. My mothers death raised questions in my heart about life and its purpose, so for the first time, instead of relying on what my parents believed, I had to find out for myself if the things I was taught to believe were true or not.I have read The Book of Mormon many times. I have studied its words and the words of living prophets and apostles. I am Mormon because I have prayed multiple times to know the truth of Jesus Christ and His restored gospel, and through the power of his Holy Spirit I have received an answer that the fulness of his gospel is found in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. As I came to know these truths I desired to share them with others. At the age of 19 I was called to serve a 2 year mission in Taichung Taiwan. My mission was the hardest, most rewarding time of my life, but I grew in testimony and in faith. I am Mormon because of the experiences I have had and the feelings I have felt that have confirmed in my heart its' teachings truthfulness. I am Mormon because of my countless answered prayers. I am Mormon because I love my Savior Jesus Christ.

How I live my faith

I attend church every Sunday and other church activities throughout the week. Currently I have a calling in the church where I serve with the young men in our local branch. I help organize youth activities each week, such as games, service projects, career nights, etc. Once a month I also teach a gospel lesson in Sunday school. I work with the young men to achieve their Boy Scout requirements and to serve in our community. Besides my calling and church activities I try real hard to read from the scriptures daily, and to say my morning and evening prayers. I work to schedule time to visit the nearest Mormon temple as often as I can. I always strive to be kind to others, and an example of Jesus Christ.
