Hi I'm Lindy Cannon

I'm a Mormon. I live in Washington with my husband and two little boys. Being a parent has helped me to understand God's love.

About Me

I love playing outdoors with my two little boys. They are very energetic and exuberant. It rains a lot where we live and we have learned that you don't need to wait for perfect conditions to enjoy nature. I think this applies to life as well. I am a fairly optimistic person. My faith gives me great hope. I enjoy being a parent. My oldest son is autistic and our youngest has some challenges of his own. Both of our children have been a huge blessing to my husband and I. We have learned more about trusting in God and working together as a team. We feel very blessed.

Why I am a Mormon

I find great peace and assurance through prayer. As a child I was taught that prayer is the way to find out what is true. I was taught that answers to prayer come in many ways but usually in the form of inner calm, warmth in the heart, clarity of thought, and assurance of purpose. This is the reason I am a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints (Mormon). I have prayed to know if the teachings of this church are true. I can say with confidence that my prayers have been answered. I believe that God loves me and all of his children. I know that he wants everyone to feel the peace and guidance that comes through trusting Him. I hope that anyone who seeks greater light and knowledge will feel comfortable learning more about the restored gospel.

How I live my faith

I an a leader in a wonderful organization for women called the Relief Society. Our purpose is to help increase the personal faith of each member, strengthen families and homes, and provide relief to those in need. One thing that I am focusing on is helping our members to understand the need for a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. I have found that I am a happier person, and a better mother, wife, daughter, and friend, when I take time to develop this relationship. Each day I read from scriptures, pray, and ponder. I call it my quiet time. As a mother with two young children (both having special needs) I sometimes I have to be creative to find time for these activities. However, the effort is always rewarded. I know that Jesus Christ really can heal all wounds. I do know that with God all things are possible. I have felt his love in my life and witnessed it in the lives of others. I also have found that taking care of my health is important. Our church a law of health called the word of wisdom. We don't drink coffee, tea, or alcohol. We abstain from drugs except what is prescribed by doctors for medical care. We believe in a healthy balanced diet and getting enough sleep. While exercise is not specifically mentioned in the word of wisdom it is obviously a good idea. For me it is therapeutic. Our son with autism benefits from exercise when he is becoming agitated. We bought a trampoline for him and it has helped him immensely.
