Hi I'm A. Robert Ruff

I am the descendant of Mormon emigrants who sacrificed all that I may be raised with truth and freedom, I am a Mormon.

About Me

I am a teacher, consultant, and author, Eternally married to my dearest friend. I am a father and grandfather. My focus is on serving my family and fellow man.

Why I am a Mormon

I was one of the few who at birth I came knowing the truth of the restoration. While I was born to active members of the church, it was my choice to worship. My testimony has grown from on of faith to profound knowledge over the years. I do know that Jesus Christ is the promised redeemer and with his father did in fact visit the boy Joseph Smith Junior and called him to be the prophet to restore the lost truths of the past. I know temples are a key to both worship and acquiring knowledge to be given by the Holy Ghost. I testify that the calling of the apostles is to indeed be a living witness of the Lord Jesus Christ - He lives, He is real, and He speaks now to man through his chosen servants. It is is under His direction all things are done. My testimony of the Book of Mormon is unique at age 26 I was attending a Stake Conference where Elder Neil Maxwell wes the visiting General Authority. He paused and then made this statement "If there are any in this audience who have trouble reading, if they will read the Book of Mormon the reading problems will go away. It was 1977 and I had graduated from college and had a job as a prison guard in the towers. I had severe dyslexia reading was a struggle, but I did have faith as did Nepi. For the nest three nights I read under red lens of my flashlight. Three eight hour sessions. I read and remembered all I read. I had experiences so amazing. I testify this is the work of prophets to be given to us now to testify of the Son of God and His special role. Read it it will change your life as it changed my own. Joseph Smith with only a first grade education was chosen as Gods instrument to translate these plates who's words were far more valuable than the gold they were inscribed on. Truth is not relative it is absolute and the Book of Mormon teaches truth in a way that is plane and understandable to all who read. It stands as a witness to all nations of the divinity of Jesus Christ.

How I live my faith

In the book of Exodus it speaks of special ordinances given to Aaron and his sons. It is my privilege to work in the temple and perform sacred ordinances. As an ecclesiastical Leader I try to bless the lives of those whom I have charge over. I an a home teacher and sit in counsel with the Bishop to bless the lives of all within our ward.

What do Mormons believe about the Bible? Do they regard it as Holy Scripture and the word of God?

A. Robert Ruff
Mormons believe the Bible to be the word of God as long as it is translated correctly. Our current texts at best are only 1000 years old - many are far newer. Time, circumstances, and serious challenges with language have lead to misinformation, especially in the english text. We believe there are many documents that will come forth and are coming forth that will clarify what is missing. All scholars will point out we are missing critical original documents. The entire record from Adam to Moses was written by Moses. We know little of anything prior to Moses, but do know records were kept. Many prophets and their writings are mentioned in text, but we lack the original. Fortunately we do have a synopsis of some of the records taken from Jerusalem to the Americas in the Book of Mormon. Read together as one text one clarifies the other filling in many missing pieces, but not all. Most is the word of God and needs to be read prayerfully. Show more Show less
