Hi I'm Doug

I am husband, a father, a business man, and a scout leader and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a computer programmer that enjoys spending time in the out doors with youth. I am an active supporter of the Boy Scouts of America because of its value based instruction and activities for the youth in America.

Why I am a Mormon

As I have studied the word of God (the Bible and the Book of Mormon) this is the only faith that I have found that 'hangs together'. The priniciples taught support and sustain all of the other principles taught by the doctrines. Are we saved by works or saved by grace? Is God a spirit or does he have a body? How did God become God and WHY HIM? Why not someone else? What is his nature and why should I care? The doctrines of the church all explain these (and many more) and do not leave unanswered questions. The Holy Spirit (Ghost) testifies that all these principles at true.

How I live my faith

I try and serve all children of God, in whatever way I can. This includes service within the church in 'callings' or in hometeaching, but also service in the community (Boy Scouts of America for example). I try the live the Golden Rule of not doing to others what I would not like done to me. This includes judging or condemning others but looking for the spirit of God in everyone and helping them feel his love.

Do Mormons worship Joseph Smith?

Absolutely not. While we do revere him as a prophet of God, we do not worship him. We ONLY worship God the Father and his son, Jesus Christ. We do revere prophets, including Joseph Smith, highly as men of God and try to follow the things that they suggest there is no worship of anyone other than God. Show more Show less
