Hi I'm Scott Smith

and I am a very happy Mormon!

About Me

I am a Science Teacher at Powell High School and also have been blessed to be the Head Track Coach for the last 19 years. I am finishing up my 29th year of teaching in schools in Montana, Idaho and Wyoming. I am happily married to my wife of over 22 years and am blessed to have three children. Our oldest son is currently serving a mission in the England, Birmingham Mission. Our two daughters are working hard at school and with their musical talents, which they (fortunately) did not inherit from me!

Why I am a Mormon

I joined the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in 1994 as a 33 year old convert. I was introduced to the church by my lovely wife who is a life long member. We had been married for almost six years during which time I had attended church on occasion. I knew that it was true, but until the fall of '94, I really hadn't been touched by the spirit in a way that let me know what a blessing of peace and happiness accompanied active membership. Since joining, I have been greatly blessed to serve in many different capacities in the Church and have gotten to know and learn great things from many different people that I would never have known if it wasn't for being an active member. The blessings that I and members of my family have received are very numerous and personal, but to describe the awakening of my spirit would be simply shown by the things that now bring tears to my eyes. Simple acts of kindness, the reunion of family members, seeing the truth of the Gospel brighten someone's life all bring a tear or two to a man who had not shed tears since childhood. I know that Jesus Christ and loves me and is my Savior. I know that I have been richly blessed in many simple ways that were made possible through his great and selfless atoning sacrifice. Most importantly, I know that He stands ready to bless the lives of all who are willing to turn to him and learn to feel of his spirit and accept the gifts available through his teachings.

How I live my faith

I attend church ever Sunday and try to serve faithfully in my callings. I truly love worshipping in the Temple and try to live Gospel standards in all that I do. I try to read from the Scriptures at least once a day and also have daily personal and family prayers.
