Hi I'm Jenessa

I love to run. I love adventuring in the beautiful outdoors. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a college student and live far away from my home in California, but relish in the fact that I am still able to interact with other young, single adults who live in the city I go to college in, who are Mormon, and share the same values as I do. Although I am one of only a few Mormons at my university, it doesn't bother me because I am able to be myself and know that I have the inseparable bond with the other members of the church. I am a figure skater, runner, and cook, and love to spend time with my favorite people in the entire world, my family.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born into the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, but I am active in the church today because I know that it is true! I know that I am able to make it through the hardships of my life because my Savior, Jesus Christ died for my sins and He knows what I go through each and every day. I know that when I turn to my Father in Heaven with a humble heart, He hears my prayers and I am able to feel peace and receive guidance to know what to do. I know my Heavenly Father loves me and I smile each day because of it!

How I live my faith

Sundays are my favorite days of the week because it is a day that I do not do any homework, studying, work, or shopping. I love going to church each Sunday and partake of the Sacrament. Through the Sacrament, I am able to renew the covenants I made at baptism, and am able to be forgiven of my sins. Although I love Sundays, I live the Gospel of Jesus Christ every day of my life, not just on Sundays. I live so that I am an example of this gospel, and so that I can have the guidance and companionship of the Holy Ghost wherever I go. I participate in the Young Single Adult program, and help to plan activities and classes for college aged, single people (ages 18-30). I love laughing with my friends in the church at swim parties, dinners, service projects, and helping each other grow through the gospel.

Can you tell me about Mormon customs: how you dress for church, what holidays you celebrate, etc.?

When I look around the congregation on Sundays, I smile at what I see. I love seeing the men at church wearing button-up shirts, slacks, and ties, especially when a little two year old is dressed in the same manner! The girls wear skirts or dresses, and everyone is so well kept. Occassionally some people are not able to dress up for church, but we still welcome them with open arms. I like looking my best when I go to church because it is a way that I can show my Heavenly Father that I respect this gospel. I love celebrating holdiays such as Thanksgiving, Christmas, birthdays, and Easter with my family! I love singing patriotic songs in church to celebrate Independence Day. Holidays are a time for me to count my blessings! Show more Show less
