Hi I'm Daren

I'm a Mormon and I love my faith.

About Me

I was raised in Utah but my wife and I have raised our family in Colorado. We have 4 children and two granddaughters. I love to be with my family and am so grateful for how they have blessed my life. Believe it or not, I am a funeral director and it is a dream come true for me. Although it is not always easy, I love going to work each day and making important differences in the lives of those who have lost a loved one. More often that not, I am the one blessed by their courage and strength. My wife is very supportive of my other passion - mountain biking! I love being in the outdoors challenging myself. Fortunately, my sons and son-in-law love mountain biking as well and it has become something we can all do together.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon for many reasons but perhaps the single greatest reason is how it has blessed my life and family. Having a defined knowledge of who I am and knowing that my purpose here on earth is much bigger than myself is powerful and compelling. This knowledge comes as the result of following the Savior and seeking to become more like him.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by trying to become more like the Savior. He was unconditional in his love for all mankind and the older I become the more I realize how important it is to be kind - something that does not always come easy to me. I have the been blessed to have several opportunities to volunteer my time in the community and within the Church. Whether it be with the Boy Scouts of America or the hospice organizations that I volunteer my time for, I always feel as though I am following the path of the Savior. Some of my friends and co-workers who are not of the Mormon faith sometimes question the time I spend serving in the Church in various capacities, but i find those are the times when I am the most fulfilled. One of the greatest blessings my family has enjoyed is setting aside one day a week, Sunday, to more fully dedicate ourselves to serving Christ. The things we do during the week, such as working, shopping, going to sporting events and particpating in other recreational activities, are things we avoid on the Sabbath. We believe everything we have comes from God and to set aside this one day is a small sacrifice with an abundance of blessings. By doing so our worship is more focused and we are more grateful for the blessings He has provided our family.
