Hi I'm Adam

I Love camping, hiking, and fishing with family and friends I'm studying criminal justice and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm from a small community that has a population of about 2,000 people. I love hiking, camping, shooting, fishing, running, and just being outside. I am the youngest of 8 children and love to spend time with my family and friends.

Why I am a Mormon

I'm a Mormon because The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints is the one church on the earth that knows and teaches the full gospel of Jesus Christ. I've come to know this as I've read The Book of Mormon, attended church services and prayed to know if what I've been taught is true. I was baptized when I was 8 and most of my faith was based on my trust in my parents. When I was 15 the Prophet of the church was Gordon B. Hinckley and he issued a challenge to read the entire Book of Mormon in a year. During that year I had some hard personal experiences that got me depressed. I know that applying what I had learned from the Book of Mormon and my seminary classes, kept me going and helped me a miraculous way to overcome that depression. Durring this time, one of my leaders challeged us (the youth) to pray about the Book of Mormon and the truthfulness of it. When I felt more peace than I had felt in a long time and it was very easy to recognise that the Holy Ghost was confirming to me that the book is true. Once I knew The Book of Mormon was true I knew that the prophet Joseph Smith was a true prophet of God, and in turn all that he did was directed by God, and in turn that this Church and the leaders of it are true servants of God and are recieving revelation for us. This knowledge brought me out of depression into happiness.

How I live my faith

I stirve to understand God's will for me and act in accordance to that will. This includes living by the commandments and laws that the prophets have shown us, and repenting of anything that I've done that isn't right. Some more obvious ways that I live my faith is to go to church and strive to raise my behaviors to meet my standards and the standards of the church. I've tried to help others by voulonteering my time at school, in the community, and at church. One thing that I've done that has been one of the biggest highlites of my life was to serve a full time mission and to preach the gospel to others and help them come closer to Jesus Christ and his teachings. Although I am far from perfect, I strive to do better every day and to use the atonement of Jesus Christ.

What is the Law of Chastity?

God, through a prophet has given us some guidelines to have happy families in the order that he has ordained. The guidelines include no sexual relationships outside the bonds of marriage, no adultery, no homosexual relationships, and the abstaining from looking at or watching pornographic material in all its forms. Another part of this commandment is the control of our minds- we strive to keep our thoughts clean. This means that we do not think about breaking any part of this law. To some these guidelines are hard to obey or not practical or foolish; but "the guilty taketh the truth to be hard, for it cutteth them to the very center"(1 Nephi 16:2; The Book of Mormon). We understand that this law is set to protect the family and all those within. Show more Show less

Are Mormons Christians?

Yes. In fact, the official name of this church is THE CHURCH OF JESUS CHRIST OF LATTER-DAY SAINTS. We believe that the young boy named Joseph Smith prayed to God to know if any of the Churches that were on the earth in his time were true, and which of them he should join. God and Jesus Christ appeared to Joseph and, after being introduced by His Father, Jesus Christ spoke to Joshep and told him that none of the Churches on the earth had a fullness of truth and that he should join none of them. Latter Joseph was called to be the Prophet to restore Jesus Christ's church to the earth- this church. We believe that the Prophet Joseph Smith was lead by Jesus Christ, just as Jesus leads this Church through a Prophet today. Show more Show less
