Hi I'm Cory

Born in Utah but raised in Texas/Kansas/Missouri. I'm proud to be a Mormon.

About Me

After serving a LDS Mission in San Jose California I married a wonderful woman with whom we have 3 children. Our oldest daughter is attending college in Utah. Our son is serving a spanish speaking full time mission in California. Our youngest daughter is in high school. I served in the United States Army for nearly 11 years before joining the civilian workforce. I graduated college while in the Army with a Bachelor's degree in Business Management. I enjoy football, baseball and hockey. I also enjoy traveling with my family.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born into the Mormon faith but like everyone I had to develop my own testimony and faith of our Savior Jesus Christ. After constant prayer, study and soul searching I recieved the confirmation that this is the true gospel of Jesus Christ.

How I live my faith

I have the opportunity each Sunday to teach a class of 7 & 8 years olds. The faith of these young chidren is remarkable and they remind me each week that I to must continue to grow my faith in our Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ. The class theme is centered around "Choose the Right". A simple phrase but in the world we live in today just remembering to "Choose the Right" in all we do is a powerful reminder of why we came to this earth. While none of us are perfect we can choose each day to become more like Jesus by learning and implimenting in our lives His teachings.

Are all Mormons required to serve a mission?

The simple answer is no, we are not required to serve missions. Choosing to serve a mission is a personal choice and one each person should consider carefully. I was blessed with the opportunity to serve and I have a son who is currently serving a mission. The greatest blessing that comes to a young man or woman who serves a mission is the opportunity to gain a stronger testimony of our Savior Jesus Christ, his Atonement and His mission on earth. I believe that because of my mission I was able to be a better servant to my God and those around me, a better husband and father, and a better citizen. Unfortunately not everyone is able to serve what we call a full time mission where we leave our home to serve anywhere in the world. Sometimes medical issues and other reasons can limit this opportunity but the great thing with the Mormon Church is everyone has the opportunity to serve in their local area whether it is volunteering our time to help the full time missionaries, working in Bishop's Storehouse, putting together emergency supply kits, and so on.
