Hi I'm Joseph Harper

I'm a small town Idaho suburban potato boy with a heart for my family, good music, golf, politics and wakeboarding. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm from Blackfoot, Idaho. It's a small, little farming community of about 10,000 people. I'm the youngest in a blended-family of ten children. I recently returned from serving as a missionary in Mesa, Arizona. I loved it! The teachings of Jesus Christ have blessed my life more than anything else, so sharing them has been and is still the best thing I've ever done.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born into a family that already had the gospel, but everyone has to find out for themselves at some point, right? For me that was just a few weeks before I became a missionary. I am a Mormon becuase I know the Book of Mormon is true. I have read it, I've thought a lot about what it teaches, and I prayed and asked God if it was true. I received a confirmation from His Spirit that it is true. I love reading the Bible and all that it teaches me about the Savior and His life and the promises of the Lord to His children. It is an additional witness of Jesus Christ. It truly is the word of God. I know that anyone who reads the Book of Mormon can recieve an answer from God that the book is true and that it is His word just like I did.

How I live my faith

I study the scriptures to learn what God taught the prophets. I want to know what they knew. I pray... a lot. Mainly I just try to do what Jesus Christ would want me to do. As a missionary I was able to invite others to come unto Christ so they can feel His loves and have all the blessings that come from obeying God's commandments.

What is the Book of Mormon?

Joseph Harper
The Book of Mormon is a powerful and convincing witness to the whole world that Jesus is the Christ. It is holy scripture. It contains within its pages the words of Christ. It teaches us how we can return to live in heaven with God. Like the Bible, It was written by prophets. The Bible was written in Jerusalem, but the Book of Mormon was on the American continent around the same time period. Starting around 600 b.c. A prophet named Lehi and his family lived in Jerusalem. The people in Jerusalem at this time were really wicked and when Lehi wanred them about the consequences of sin they wanted to kill him. The Lord warned Lehi and instructed him to take his family and get out of there. They were led by the Lord to the Americas. The Book of Mormon is a record of their interactions with God. What do Mormons believe is the purpose of life?

Joseph Harper
We believe that the purpose of life is to have joy! Real, lasting happiness that comes through living the teachings of Jesus Christ. We believe that true joy comes from family relationships, serving others, and just having fun together. I love my family a lot. They are a huge source of joy for me. They help me to do the things that will help me be happy. Families are a gift from God, and we can be with our families forever if we follow the example of Jesus Christ. Show more Show less

Are there restrictions based on race or color concerning who can join The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and have the priesthood?

Joseph Harper
No. We are all God's children and He desires to bless all of us. Every worthy male is able to hold the priesthood of God, which is a great responsibility. Show more Show less
