Hi I'm Debbie

I'm a mother of triplets. I'm a Mormon. And I'm a mother of two Mormon Missionaries.

About Me

For many years I experienced the heartbreak of infertility. After nine years of prayerful waiting and the miracle of medical science my husband and I were blessed with triplets--two boys and a girl. They were followed six years later by a baby girl. Even though i have a college degree and i worked for many years, it has been a thrill for me to be a stay-at-home wife and mother and to watch my children grow and develop. The youngest is now 14 and the triplets are twenty. My daughter is a junior in college studying speech pathology. My two sons are now serving missions in Ukraine and Brazil. My extended family and many of my friends wonder why these 20-year-old boys would leave their college studies to serve missions for two years at their own expense. To learn a little bit about what they are doing and why see what i wrote in the section Why Mormon Missionaries Proselyte.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born in Southern Idaho where i grew up on a small ranch. My mother was Basque and was raised in the Catholic Church, but when I was three years old she joined the Mormon church. You might say we learned and grew in the church together. I grew up living the high moral standards taught by my faith. My friends respected me for not drinking and smoking and would quit using bad language when I was around. I attended early morning seminary before high school each day and grew to love the scriptures. When I was sixteen years old I received a witness of the divinity of Jesus Christ. To this day one of my favorite things is to feel the warm goodness of the Holy Spirit as it confirms truth to me. Over and over it has confirmed the truth of this gospel. I have tried to live a life that is pleasing to my Savior Jesus Christ. Being a member of His Church requires sacrifices of time, energy, and means, but making these sacrifices is my way of serving Him and saying thanks for His resurrection, His atoning sacrifice, and for the many blessings my Heavenly Father has given me, especially my wonderful husband and children.

How I live my faith

I feel the greatest contribution I can make to my faith, my God, and my country is to raise children who love the Lord, who live the values they've been taught, and who serve others. I have tried to do this as a way of showing thanks to a loving Heavenly Father who has blessed me with so much.

Why do Mormon missionaries proselyte?

WHY MY SONS ARE SERVING MISSIONS Preaching the gospel of Jesus Christ is the responsibility of all followers of Christ. It is a specific duty for men who hold the priesthood, as do my sons. Just as Christ sent his disciples to share His message when He was on the earth, the Savior continues to send messengers to teach His truth as missionaries. My sons are honored to be special witnesses of Jesus Christ and have an important message to share with those who will listen. Testimonies of Christ: From my son serving in Ukraine: I know that Jesus Christ is truly our Savior and that he loves each of us. He watches over and looks after us. I love my Savior and am proud and honored to have His name next to mine on the small black nametag I wear. I know that He lives. He guides each and every one of us on the mission and journey we have been sent to accomplish here on this earth. From my son serving in Brazil:
Without a doubt we need a Savior. He came to the earth and lived a perfect life. By His power, He fed the hungry and healed the sick. By His power He broke the bands of death. By the name of Christ we can be saved. I am so happy to be testifying of Christ and of the love He has for us and how He restored His Gospel He took from the earth so long ago. Jesus Christ is our Savior. He lives. His plan is perfect. His love is infinite. How grateful I am to have this knowledge in my life and to be spreading it to the people of Brazil. Show more Show less
