Hi I'm Shae

I'm a music enthusiast, PhD student, Hearing and Speech scientist, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm currently a PhD student at the University of Utah studying speech and hearing sciences. I love learning how God has given us mechanisms to communicate and share and receive experiences with each other. The more I learn about my body and the intricacies of speech and hearing, I know there is no accidental design, we were planned this way to communicate with each other, and with our Heavenly Father. I like to dance, play guitar, play ping-pong, and relax with my friends while listening to good music. In my spare time (which isn't a whole lot these days!) I really enjoy catching up with my family and talking to good friends that I haven't heard from in a while. I also really enjoy bargain shopping and when a good deal comes up, I have to snag it!

Why I am a Mormon

I'm a mormon because I like the values taught here. I've learned to be a better disciple of Christ. I've come to know of His love for all of us. I've asked God to know where the truth lies, and I've come to know that it's here by feeling the Holy Ghost. I feel it's true, and every time I ask, I know that God loves me enough to give me a reassurance that what I'm doing is the right thing. That's why I'm a mormon. I do what I do because I've come to KNOW it's true by feelings that can't be described. I'm no better than anyone else, I know God loves all His children and will let each of them know where the truth is if they ask in faith believing they can receive an answer.

How I live my faith

Every day I try to help my brothers and sisters. We're all in the same race, it's just a matter of how we run it. I like being around people and trying to lift others up. The hard times in life make us question whether it's worth it all or not, but the help and support of others has strengthened me in difficult times, and I know that by living the Gospel of Christ, we become someone different, better, and happier.

Do you really believe there is a prophet like Moses alive today?

Is God the same yesterday, today, and forever? I really do believe if God saw a need to call Moses to guide the children of Israel through their difficult time, then He most definitely would call a prophet today to guide us through the difficult moments of our lives.. Show more Show less

Why is family so important to Mormons?

Family is so important to Latter-Day Saints because of our love for God and others. Are we not all part of the family of God? I love my Heavenly Father, because He's just that, my Father who lives in Heaven. We are all children of Him, so families are important because we are all related and know each other. We are each special children of a loving Father, and as such we should love and cherish each other. As families, we learn and grow together to make it through our time here on earth, and we can live together for eternity as a family. We can teach our children about God, and help them grow up making good choices so that they can return to live with God, and us too, in heaven. Show more Show less
