Hi I'm Joey D.

I grew up in New Jersey. I work at Chick-fil-A. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I like baking, piano, and computer science. I am a thinker. I have many dreams.

Why I am a Mormon

When I was about eleven, I read the Book of Mormon and prayed about it. It has brought me closer to God. It took a little bit of faith and trust at first, but my faith grew and I was rewarded with an understanding of God's plan of Happiness. Heavenly Father sent His Son, Jesus Christ, to Earth to show us how to live and be happy, and to suffer and die for us, so we can overcome every obstacle in between us and Him. He LOVES us...so MUCH, and wants us to be happy like him. But He will not force us..

How I live my faith

I try every day to share a piece of God's love with the people I see in my life. At work I try to make other people's day by showing them caring concern about how their day is. I also do my best to lift up people who are down and remind them of God's love. Every person I see, I see as a brother or sister (since we are God's children) and every person has incredible worth and potential. At church, sometimes I help teach a lesson to a person or a class, or I give a prepared talk to the congregation relating to the Atonement of Jesus Christ. I also have the chance to help organize activities, help set them up or clean up afterward. I also share my testimony about God when I feel inspired to. These are some of the ways I live my faith.

Why is The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints called Mormons or Mormonism?

Joey D.
The name "Mormon" comes from the Book of Mormon. It's called the Book of Mormon because that was the name of the guy who compiled/abridged most of the books inside together into one book. Mormon was a historian. We read and believe in the words of the Book of Mormon, so we are nicknamed Mormons. Show more Show less

How can we stop the spread and influence of pornography?

Joey D.
This is tough, usually just talking about this subject with people is tricky and difficult. Recognizing that pornography is evil, vile, and addictive is very important. Addictions are like... patterns of behavior, harmful ones, that become very very difficult to stop. They separate you from God and it becomes harder to feel His love the more you engage in the addiction. It slowly takes away your free will, which was God's precious gift to you. So I would definitely recommend: * openness, knowledge - talk about pornography with parents, ecclesiastical leaders (learn about this danger) * preparedness - filters on the computers help, keep your computer in a visible area to others (don't isolate) * purity and modesty - promoting these is to me the highest form of dignity and fulfills the great responsibility for the great powers given for procreation * faith and hope and love - Jesus Christ is your Savior and will help you through the hard times. Have faith and try to see others with His love : ) These things will help stop the spread and influence of pornography, satan's lies and deception by overcoming with understanding, good sense, and the love of God. How can I find someone to talk with, in person, about the Mormon religion?

Joey D.
I'd say the best ways to are to ask a member of the church. They would know better than someone who is not a member. Also, the missionaries are trained how to answer questions, and have lots of help on their side, so they can explain things easier for an unfamiliar person to understand. Ask any Mormon or use this website to get in touch with God's full-time servants! Show more Show less

Do Mormons regard the Bible as Holy Scripture and the word of God?

Joey D.
Yes, totally, as far as the Bible is faithful to the original translation. We use the Bible side by side with the Book of Mormon, and they are cross-referenced and harmonious. Show more Show less
