Hi I'm Jon

I grew up in North Dakota and live in Texas. I am a former art teacher, a law student, and family man. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am the husband of the most beautiful woman in the world and we have two amazing children. I consider myself blessed. I worked as an art teacher for just over three years before going back to law school recently. I commute from the suburbs via bike and bus to get to school. I like to run, read books, watch movies, go out dancing with my wife, and generally spend time with my family.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born a Mormon. My mom and dad joined the church just before I was born. Though, that isn't why I am still a Mormon. I am still following Christ and still a Mormon because I have had my prayers answered. When I was very young I read the Book of Mormon and asked God if it was true. The answer I received overwhelmed me and literally helped shape the rest of my life. My heart was filled with joy so great that I began to cry because I knew God had spoken to me. Over 20 years later, I can still remember that peace and happiness I felt. I remember because I have felt God's voice and love many times since. I know God is real. I know he answers prayers. I know Christ is our savior and through Him we can overcome our weaknesses and sins. I am thankful for His gospel and the happiness it brings. I know that the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints has the fullness of His gospel and that is why I am a Mormon.

How I live my faith

I live my faith right now by teaching a Sunday school class for 5 year-old children. I also serve as a Webelos leader in a cub scout pack. My wife is a public-affairs coordinator for our church and sometimes I get to help her too. I also visit other families from our church to talk about Christ and make sure they are well as a hometeacher. I believe the most important way I live my faith is by serving my family as a father and husband.
