Hi I'm Matthew Linford

I code, origami(I know it's not a verb), fish, bike, ASL(neither is this one), I'm an only child, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm currently studying Computer Science at Brigham Young University. I have had many opportunities to serve in my church. Most notably I served my church as a proselyting missionary in San Gabriel Valley in California. Specifically it was called the California Arcadia Mission. Previously to my mission, I attended BYU for a year, but I put that on hold for two years while I served the Lord. When I finished the mission, I came back to school and normal life. My mission completely changed my life. I served God by inviting others to come to Christ. I did that by helping people receive the truths taught by Him. On the mission I' learned to develop a greater sense of God's love for His children. That love helped motivate me to go out, working without vacations or breaks, and be a part in the miracles that He worked. Like I said earlier, I’m back now. However, I still strive to serve God by inviting others and myself to follow Christ. I am a CS major like I said before. Specifically, I am interested in cyber security. I like tinkering and knowing how computers work. Other interests of mine are ASL, to hiking, Ultimate Frisbee, biking, folding origami, cooking, fishing, paintball, and math. Just for a little contrast, I am an only child. Mormons typically are known for their large families. But that’s not always the case. I’m the oldest, youngest and middle child. Pretty cool, right? Yup, I am a Mormon!

Why I am a Mormon

I was born a Mormon. I choose to be a Mormon, because the spirit I have felt in this church. I know my Savior lives. His atonement is capable to remove all my sins, pain, and sorrow. I see how this church make my family happy. And we are only becoming happier. I have seen how new members find peace. I know God has blessed my life. I know the current prophet, Thomas S. Monson, is called by God to help us know His will. I know that I have a loving Heavenly Father. I want to return to Him one day.

How I live my faith

Living the lifestyle, might seem restricting. Honestly, I feel freed by it. All day long, I see and work with people who would be happier, more confident, and peaceful if they would just live the way that God commanded. You can choose to either do what God said or not. To be happy or sad. Its up to you. :)

Who chooses the Mormon prophet?

Matthew Linford
God chooses His prophet. Just like in the Bible, God always picked His spokesman. We believe in modern revelation and so we believe that God actually communicates His will to us today. Isn't that pretty amazing? God cares enough for us, really loves us, that He reveals who He wants to guide the church. Show more Show less

Do Mormons regard the Bible as Holy Scripture and the word of God?

Matthew Linford
Yes. It really is that simple. I love the Bible. I've read it all the way through and I know its true. You should see my Bible. Its very well used. I love the teachings in the Bible and apply them daily. Show more Show less
