Hi I'm Rhandi

Following a divorce in 1996 and with 5 children to support, I became a Registered Nurse. I'm a convert and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am the ninth of ten children. My baby sister was brutally murdered in our home when she was 4 years old. I felt the spirit of the Lord so strongly at the time (I was 5) I absolutely knew my sister was safe in Heaven. That experience lead me, along with my mother, to continually question how we could be with her again. One of the most difficult experiences of my life was to raise a successful family of five children following a divorce after 14 years of marriage. I could never have accomplished this without a deep and abiding faith in Heavenly Father and in His Son, Jesus Christ. I'm a Registered Nurse. I have worked in Cardiac Intensive Care, Medical/Surgical Unit, Emergency Room and as a Psychiatric Nurse. I love to swim, ski, ride horses and spend time with my kids. The greatest accomplishment of my life is being a Mom! It has brought me the greatest joy I have ever known.

Why I am a Mormon

I was raised a Baptist and had always felt there were too many unanswered questions. Why did we no longer have prophets? What happened to Priesthood Power and who was ordained to such and by whom? Why were the Heavens still closed? Did Heavenly Father really know who I was and if so, what was my purpose here upon the earth? Why is life so unfair? Why does Heavenly Father with all His power allow so many bad things to happen? My brother's best friend always seemed to be so happy and positive. I asked him for his secret. He said it would be easier if he just read me something about his beliefs. He read the First Vision which is an account of Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ visit to Joseph Smith in the Sacred Grove. I knew without a doubt, it was true. His mother sent the missionaries to my home the next day. I, along with my mother and nephew, were baptized within 2 weeks. I know the Book of Mormon is true. Jesus Christ did visit the American continent. The Book of Mormon along with the Bible stand as testaments of Jesus Christ. Reading these sacred books has given my life a richness and meaning I could not have found any other way. People now say of me, "No matter what happens, you continue to smile and remain so positive!"

How I live my faith

Faith is nothing without action. I believe Jesus Christ showed us the lives we should live. He did what the Father desired Him to do. When faced with choices, I ask, "What would Jesus do?" There is peace in knowing that when we don't live up to the standards we know, we can repent. I partake of the sacrament on Sunday to renew the covenants I made at Baptism and to renew my comittment to do the things the Savior taught. I visit other women in my area every month in an effort to uplift and encourage one another. I am a member of the largest woman's organization in the world, the Relief Society. I believe, as a daughter of a King, it is my Divine duty to serve others, visit the sick, afflicted and the lonely. I am a Sunday School Teacher, teaching the 6 year-olds. I have been given opportunities to serve in my community and to donate time, effort and money to others around the world through the Humanitarian Services of the Church. I have truly found purpose in life by serving others.

Why was a Restoration of the Gospel needed? Haven’t we always had the Bible?

Rhandi
The Restoration was necessary due to the Priesthood being taken from the world following the deaths of the Twelve Apostles called by Jesus to be "fishers of men." Show more Show less

How can we stop the spread and influence of pornography?

Rhandi
We need to be just as vocal against practices we believe are harmful as those who spread there is no harm. Show more Show less

Why are only some Mormons allowed into temples? Is there something secret going on in Mormon Temples? What goes on in Mormon Temples?

Rhandi
The Temple is the most Holy building in the Church, therefore it is necessary to ensure those who enter are worthy. The Bible spoke of the necessity of Temples and the purpose of the ordinances performed within it's sacred walls. I was able to perform all ordinances for my deceased mother, father, two sisters, brother, grandparents, great-grandparents and so on. I know that I will live with them all again someday.
