Hi I'm Race

I'm a teacher, theatre artist, musician, writer, and friend. I like to help out when I can. I'm also a Mormon.

About Me

I have a degree in Theatre Education and I am working on a second bachelor's degree in Music. I love the Arts. They have shaped my life and helped me understand better who I am, and who the Lord expects me to be. I also enjoy learning about other things, particularly earth science, history, meteorology, and politics. I have found that learning--both by study and also by faith--is the key to finding truth and understanding. I try to seek the Lord's will for me in my life, to follow it to the best of my ability and to build my relationship with Him.

Why I am a Mormon

My mother's dad was a convert to the church, and my father's side of the family have ties to the Church's pioneer ancestry, therefore I was born into the LDS faith. I was baptized when I was eight years old. I lived what my parents taught me about the Church and the Standards and commandments of God. Little by little I came to understand why living the Gospel was beneficial to me. I learned to feel the gentle whisper of the Holy Spirit's voice as it guided me in my life to understanding truth. Through the feelings I have felt by having the Holy Spirit in my life, I now know that the Lord has Restored His Church to the earth, that Joseph Smith was a prophet who aided in this restoration, and that Jesus Christ is the Savior of the World and that He loves us all with greater love that we are able to understand. That is why His plan is best.

How I live my faith

I strive, first and foremost, to constantly communicate with the Lord. I pray often in my heart, and when I'm alone. I also pray often with the people I love. I have found that by talking with the Lord and working with Him to resolve issues, He has blessed my life and shown me what I need to do to accomplish his will. Many times, the answers He gives me are found in the Scriptures. I try to read from the Book of Mormon every day, for I have found that by doing that, it has brought me more near to the Lord than anything else. I also study often from the Bible, Doctrine and Covenants, and Pearl of Great Price as well as from the talks given by modern prophets and apostles. Reading the scriptures and communicating with the Lord in prayer are the two most important elements to gaining understanding and a testimony of all things. I also try to repent of my transgressions and work toward goals so that I can become a better person. When I experience trials, I always turn to the Lord, for He always helps me feel of His love for me and shows me what I need to do. When I have given my all, He then steps in to deliver me from my afflictions and trials. I have come to know of His love for me and others as I have experienced this in life. I also attend Church every Sunday. Doing this helps me 'recharge' my spiritual batteries, and it helps me face the problems in my life with courage as well as know what I need to do to serve and help others. Being a member of the church truly is a blessing in my life. The whole lifestyle is a lifestyle of happiness, contribution, love for others, and receiving of strength from the Lord. I love being a member of the Church.

How can we stop the spread and influence of pornography?

Deer travel certain routes to get to where they want to go, and the more they travel a certain route the more defined it becomes. If we want pornography to be eliminated from our society, we must first stop traveling the pathways that lead to that destination. The movies we watch, the books we read, the things we endorse and 'tolerate' need to be eliminated from our own personal repertoire or they will influence our thoughts to think in a sexual manner. Another thing that needs to happen is good family oriented people need to take control of the Media industry. People in general would rather have cleaner movies being made. If this were the case, the racy stuff would begin to not sell and the supply could potentially be eliminated because the demand would not be there. If there is anything in this life I HATE it is pornography. It has destroyed the life of a dear friend of mine, and damaged many of my family members and friends. There is nothing more degrading than tolerating this in society. Show more Show less
