Hi I'm Heidi

I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm a married, stay-at-home mother of 3 children, ages 16, 13, and 10. I like to read, jog, shop, and watch reality TV. I'm a CPA by trade, but haven't worked since my first child was born. I play the piano and love music.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born into the Mormon faith, but I still had to find out for myself that the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints was Christ's true church. It was a very gradual process. I remember reading the Book of Mormon for the first time when I was eight years old. I didn't understand a lot of what I read, but I felt a good feeling inside when I read it. I also felt good inside when I attended church and especially when I sang the hymns. This was the beginning of my testimony. As I entered my teenage years, I tried to live righteously, and continued reading the Book of Mormon, praying, and attending church regularly. As I did this, I felt the Spirit testify to me again and again that the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, the Mormon church, is Christ's true church. I also gained a testimony that Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ live and love us, that the Book of Mormon is true, that Joseph Smith was a true prophet, and that there is a living prophet on the earth today. I have been so blessed in my life and I know it is because I have chosen to follow Christ's gospel and be a valiant member of His church. I'm happy and at peace when I live the teachings of the Mormon church, and that's why I'm a Mormon.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by trying to follow the example of Jesus Christ. I try to love and be kind to everyone. I try to keep the commandments. I try to pray and read the scriptures daily. I attend my church meetings every Sunday. I pay a full tithing. I attend the temple on a regular basis. I do my best to serve my family, friends, and fellow church members. I try to be a good example to others.

What is the Mormon lifestyle like? How do Mormons live?

For the most part, my lifestyle is the same as any other stay-at-home mother. I take care of the kids, clean the house, cook dinner, do the laundry, and try to find some free time for myself. But there are some things that I do, or don't do, that might be different: I don't drink coffee, tea, or alcohol. This is because Mormons follow a health code called the Word of Wisdom that was received as a revelation through Joseph Smith. I attend my church meetings every Sunday. This is how I keep my testimony strong. I keep the Sabbath day holy. That means I don't go to stores, movies, restaurants, or do any recreational activities on Sunday. My family and I stay at home and spend time together. Every Monday night our family has "Family Home Evening". We pray together, sing songs, play games, and have a short gospel lesson. I have a "calling" or job I perform in our church. Every member of our church does. We don't get paid. My calling right now is working with the "primary" children ages 3-11. I dress modestly. I believe my body is sacred because it houses my Spirit. I pray and read the scriptures daily. This helps me stay close to my Heavenly Father and His Son, Jesus Christ. My family also has family prayer and family scripture study daily. Every evening before my youngest goes to bed, we read the scriptures for a few minutes, talk about what we've learned, and then pray together. Show more Show less
