Hi I'm beckie.

i am a working, snack eating, yoga teaching, list making, book reading, styrofoam hating, student... and i am a mormon.

About Me

i was born in south korea and then adopted by my amazing parents and raised in st. louis, missouri. having caucasian parents never seemed abnormal to me. and considering the fact that i do not play a violin, ice skate, love math or follow any other racial stigmas, i think that i fit in pretty well with them. upon completing high school, i followed suit of all the other LDS kids and ventured out to UT to further my education. now, i work and attend school full time. i will be finishing my bachelor's degree in psychology and plan on pursuing a degree in nursing and midwifery upon graduating. i love learning about the human body, natural wellness, and helping others. this is the perfect fit for me. other than school, i spend my time being very active. i play tennis any chance that i can get and i run six days a week. and when the season permits, i like to fly fish, attempt golf -emphasis on the attempt, rock climb, hike, cycle, etc. when i do finally sit down for a moment, nothing can tear me away from a good book. i have hundreds of books and love everything about them. my perfect day would be waking up early, going for a long run in the canyon and seeing the view at the top of the mountain. playing games with my family, curling up to an amazing book, cooking a healthy dinner for everyone, going to a basketball or baseball game that night and ending the day talking and laughing with my best friends. that would be pretty ideal.

Why I am a Mormon

such a loaded question with so very many answers. i was fortunate enough to be raised by strong lds parents, but ones that also taught me to find my own testimony. the gospel is focused on love, family and service. there is no ambiguity. president kimball said, "the Almighty is with this people. we shall have all the revelation that we shall need if we will do our duty and keep the commandments of God...remember if there be eyes to see, there will be visions to inspire. if there be ears to hear, there will be revelations to experience. if there be hearts which can understand, know this that the exalting truths of Christ's gospel will no longer be hidden and mysterious and all earnest seekers may know God and his program." i have had countless prayers answered, received guidance and physical protection through coming to understand and implement the principles of the gospel in my life. i have seen and felt, firsthand, how accepting the hand of my Heavenly Father can bring true happiness and peace.

How I live my faith

the gospel is rooted in love and obedience of our savior. i try to recognize every person as a son/daughter of our heavenly father and remember that we are all working for the same end result- everlasting joy. keeping this in mind, prompts me to be more compassionate, open minded and patient towards the many people that i encounter everyday. being a member of this gospel requires active participation. it takes effort. i have been given many opportunities to serve and to learn. though sometimes more difficult than others, i try to be grateful for the all of the blessings in my life- including those little ones so cleverly disguised as trials.
