Hi I'm Nakia

I am 6 of 11 kids in my family. I have 5 younger siblings who are adopted. I LOVE MY FAMILY and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I love to be around my family, even more than with friends most of the time. Some of my favorite things to do are run, play basketball and volleyball, go snow machining. I also love to go water and snow skiing and also swimming. I am an outgoing person that loves to help other people out. I love to give to charities. I look forward to every Christmas, because my family goes to Temple Square and it's so much fun to spend time with my loved ones. I am currently going to college and am in the Dental Assisting program. I like to listen to music! I love being LDS!!

Why I am a Mormon

I was born into the Church to a loving, great family who continue to stay true and faithful to His teachings. I love this gospel more than words can say. I am grateful for Joseph Smith and all the terrible things that he went through to help move the gospel forward and to help us have the Scriptures today. I am grateful for a loving Heavenly Father who knew we were't going to be perfect so He sent His Son to Atone for our many sins. I am grateful for the Spirit and how it continually helps me make the right decisions in my life. I am so very thankful for temples that were built here on this earth and the work that we can perform in them. Temples have always been very close to my heart, and I my most favorite Primary song since I was little is "I love to see the Temple" It brings tears to my eyes every time I think about it. I love them even more now, because my family has had the great opportunity to adopt 5 of my younger brothers and sisters and we are all sealed together for time and all eternity. I still remember looking through the mirror in the temple where your reflection was never ending. I love temples so very much and am grateful for the promises that the Lord gives to us if we remain faithful. Striving to be like Him is hard sometimes when the world;y influences surround you, but I know that if we are persistent in doing the little things that we will blessed and we will make it to His Kingdom someday.

How I live my faith

I recently moved from home, for college and I am in a Singles Ward and I serve there on a Committee of about four or five girls and we are in charge of doing a monthly activity/meeting with the sisters of the church, but nonmembers are definitely welcome also. I love going Visiting Teaching, because there is a special spirit when you are with sisters you know and love to be around, and also new people to make new friends with. Like I said before I love caring and helping other people, I think I am addicted to it. This year I was able to help with many organizations and activities around where I live and my home city. I was able to give blood, give some warm clothing to a charity, give canned foods to another charity. To another charity I was able to give money to help a little child receive surgery for a cleft pallet, I was able to babysit for a family who was assigned to go to the temple for the night. I was also able to give a little toy to Toys for Tots that went toward a cause to help a little one without Christmas. I also was able to get on a site that helps hungry people around the world, for every question you answer right you donate 10 pieces of rice, so its helping the hungry people who are less fortunate. I have been able to give in many ways, which makes me extremely happy. I was only able to do that, because of Heavenly Father and His kindness and goodness to me, so I was able to help other people out who weren't as fortunate.
