Hi I'm A.J.

I'm a son. I'm a brother. I'm a sailor. And I'm a Mormon.

About Me

My name is A.J. I have a testimony of Jesus Christ and that he lives and speaks today. I'm currently in the Navy serving my country. While it can be difficult, the rewards are worth much more than the struggle. I am the middle of three children and while we have our struggles, we love each other a lot. My family is a big part of my life and I'm glad that God has blessed us so much.

Why I am a Mormon

While I was born in the church, there comes a time in everyone's life when they have to find out who they are, and who they will serve in this life. I have seen the blessings that come from living the gospel. I know that the Book of Mormon is the word of God and is more scripture for us. It's amazing to see modern revelation. I know that Jesus Christ died for us, and the healing power of his sacrifice is infinite. I know that if you search for him, you will find him.

How I live my faith

I try my best to live the gospel. Not just with words, but with action. I'm not perfect, there's lots of room to improve, but I'm trying to be better and make progress. Through Jesus Christ we can be better and become the people that he wants us to be.

What is the Atonement of Jesus Christ? Why was it necessary for Jesus Christ to sacrifice His life?

We can put it this way. Everything in the world will obey God perfectly. If He says to a rock, "Move" it moves. Us as humans on the other hand, are naturally disobedient. He says, "Read your scriptures every day" and many times we don't. He says, "Don't fight the commandments" and we don't listen, and we go and break a bunch of commandments, because they're not that convenient for us. So if you look at it that way, the rocks are better than we are. And the scriptures say, "No inpure thing can enter into the kingdom of God." So everything that we do gets us farther and farther away from Him. But because Jesus Christ loves us, he was willing to take upon himself the pains and the spiritual consequences that have to be paid for us. And through him, if we do what he asks of us, we will be able to enter into the kingdom of God. That is why we need the Atonement. We need Jesus Christ. Show more Show less
