Hi I'm Annie

I am a wife, a mother, and a nurse. I am the fifth of 11 children. I am a Mormon.

About Me

I grew up in a small Idaho town. I am the fifth of 11 children. I love music! Over the years I have learned to play the piano, trumpet, violin, organ, and took singing lessons for a few years. I have participated in jazz bands, choirs, vocal groups, and ensembles. I love being outside and doing anything outside (playing, hiking, running, working, you name it!) It makes me very happy to be surrounded by God's creations. I have been a nurse since March 2011. I was married May 2011. My husband and I moved to Philadelphia in August 2011 so he can attend dental school. We have one daughter that is 1 1/2 and are expecting another little girl in a few months. Being a mother is very hard many days, but I have not found greater joys than through teaching and loving my daughter. I have found that motherhood brings me closer to Christ as I see and use so many strengths and weaknesses, and am able to strengthen my weaknesses. There is not a more divine work than raising children and helping them to know of the love God has for them.

Why I am a Mormon

I cannot deny that The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints is true. I know it with every fiber of my being. I know it not because of what anyone has told me, but because I have asked God Himself and He has brought peace in my heart through the Holy Ghost. I am a Mormon because living by principles taught in this church and The Book of Mormon have made me so happy! I know that Jesus is the Christ. That He can heal all who come unto Him. There is no pain so exquisite, no trial so large, no sin so engulfing, that the Master Physician cannot heal. He heals broken hearts. He is the head of this church. I am a Mormon because in holy temples families are sealed together Forever. I am a Mormon because there are living prophets on the earth that lead, guide, and help us to know God's will. Today's current prophet is Thomas S. Monson. This church makes people happy! Although I still have trials and hardships, I have a peace, hope, and joy in my heart because I know that Christ is with me and that I will live with my family and God again someday -- no matter what happens.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by daily trying to do as the Savior would if He were in my position. All of us are children of God and should all be treated as such. We truly all are brothers and sisters. My current responsibility in the church is to help those in our ward find their ancestors names and learn about their own family history. Families are very important to my church and being connected to our ancestors is likewise important. We will be with our families again and it is important for us to find and know these individuals.

Who founded Mormonism and The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints?

Jesus Christ is the head of our church. It is His church. In the spring of 1820, a 14-year old boy named Joseph Smith went into a grove a trees to pray and ask God which church to join. God the Father and His Son, Jesus Christ appeared to Him just as they appeared to prophets in biblical times. They told Joseph that the church that Christ had organized was no longer on the earth. God chose Joseph Smith to re-establish His church upon the earth once more. Over the next ten years, Joseph was visited by heavenly messengers, translated The Book of Mormon by the power of God, and received authority to organize the Church. Show more Show less
