Hi I'm Mechols

I'm a Mormon

About Me

Hi I'm Mechols, I am a mountain man, and find peace and relaxation up in the high mountains. I love hiking, and climbing to the top of a nearby peaks, to look across the valleys and see the endless chain of mountains. In high school I was into sports. I ran cross country, and was a high jumper on the track team. I got my thrills by getting lost around town on a run, and finding neat places and things to do. I recently returned home from serving a full time mission in the Missouri Independence Mission, and it has been the best experience in my life so far. Cooking is my hobby and I am studying culinary arts and business in college, and eventually hope to make a career of cooking, and working with food.

Why I am a Mormon

Though I grew up in the church I still needed to know for myself if; it was just me following the footsteps of my parents, or if the church was really true. I had always heard older members say that they knew it was true, but, how was I to know that it was for myself. I had a cousin who moved in nearby who had little if at all any knowledge about the church. He asked me how I knew that it was true, and thats what really sent me on my own personal search to recieve that answer that I was seeking for. He and I both met with the missionaries for several months, with no solid witness that it was true. As we continued meeting with them, we had the opportunity to attend a temple open house in the Draper Temple before it had been dedicated. As he and I walked through that magnificent building we both recieved a solid conviction that, that was the House of the Lord, and that the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints is his kingdom upon the earth today. After recieving that spiritual revelation I knew that everything I had been taught in the church was true, and that God lives, and he speaks. Weeks latter I was privelaged to baptise my cousin, with whom I rejoice with knowing that we have played such a big part in one anothers conversion to the Gospel of Jesus Christ. I am a Mormon because I have felt the Love of God for his children, and I have felt the testifying power of the Spirit of God in my life confirming that this is the church of Jesus Christ.

How I live my faith

I recently returned home from serving two years as a missionary in the Missouri Independence Mission. As a missionary I did all that I could to offer my services to those who stood in need, and to comfort those who were in need of comfort. I try to follow the example of the Savior Jesus Christ and to serve all those who I come in contact with even now. Though I shall always be in his debt, I do my best to serve him with all of my strength by serving others.

What is being a Mormon like?

Mechols
Being a mormon for me has really helped me understand that by truly living the commandments that God has given us, leads us to living a happy life. Sure we have and use technology, but those things only bring us temporal pleasure. Living the commandments of God truly keeps us safe from problems and challanges. Life still isn't easy, but it is more bearable, and you do recieve a happiness that lasts. A new toy, or a fun trip, only bring us pleasure for a little while, but when you see the blessings that come from your family, the joy is out weighed. My family has brought me true joy and happiness, and when we live what we believe it makes us better people. My siblings are my best friends, and they are great people to be with, because they do their best to live Christlike lives. Happiness in the family is true happiness, and it blesses us in this life, and in the life to come. Show more Show less
