Hi I'm Caitlin

I'm a college graduate. I love zombies. I'm a mormon.

About Me

I was born and raised in Texas by the best parents a girl could ever have! My mom was raised in the church and my dad was baptized when he was a teenager. I moved to Kansas when I was 16 and it changed my life. Being one of the only Mormons in my high school was tough, but I learned to stand up for myself and follow my own path. I just got home from serving a mission in St. George , UT I never thought that I would be a missionary but thanks to the help of my family, my boyfriend(who is now my husband), and my Heavenly Father, I was able to overcome my fears and do what I knew I needed to do. I have grown so much and I feel like a better person because of the time that I have given to the Lord.

Why I am a Mormon

I can't say that I have always loved being Mormon, especially when it would cause me to miss out on certain social activities or when it would cause me to have to get up early every Sunday to sit through 3 hours of church. I think that I especially struggled with it when I was in college. It really wasn't until I was in my senior year of college that I really had to decide if I believed the things that I had been taught my whole life. Since I have served for 18 months in southern Utah as a missionary, my life has changed dramatically. I got my first "real job", moved, got married, moved again, and now I'm thinking of changing jobs again. Being Mormon doesn't dictate every aspect of my life, it just gives me a greater perspective on why things happen the way they do. I know that this life isn't it for me. I am an eternal being. We are all eternal beings. This life is just a small part of our great journey throughout time. I try to accept the challenges that come at me every day and see how they can help me in the long run. I am terrible at doing this but I am a work in progress.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by just being me and showing my faith through my actions. Most people in Kansas aren't Mormon so it is a challenge to not stand out sometimes, but I do my best to be friends with everyone.

Who wrote the Book of Mormon?

The Book of Mormon is a compilation of journals written in the Ancient Americas both before and after Christ (just read the introduction page). It is called the Book of Mormon because a man named Mormon abridged these writings and put them together. These men who wrote in the Book of Mormon give real life accounts of their dealings with other groups of people as well as how they tried their best to follow the teachings of Christ. Some people ask, "Well, why do we need the Book of Mormon if we already have the Bible?" This is something that I have thought a lot about. The Bible contains the fullness of the gospel, but people sometimes interpret different scriptures according to their own purposes. In the 1800s, there was quite an upheaval in America between the Christian religions. They all interpreted the Bible differently and couldn't agree. That was when the Book of Mormon was translated by Joseph Smith. The Book of Mormon needed to come forth to bear another testimony of Christ and be a companion to the Bible. It testifies of the same doctrine and adds further clarification at times. It's like if I told you that I saw some beautiful neon pink flower that glows in the dark, you might have a hard time believing me. But if someone else you knew said that they saw that same flower and that it was growing near a nuclear power plant, you would find the story a lot more believable. The Bible testifies of the divinity of our Savior, Jesus Christ written by the people in Jerusalem. The Book of Mormon also testifies of Jesus Christ written by the people in the Americas. When the Book of Mormon came forth, it allowed the people who were willing to open their hearts, the opportunity to know more about Jesus Christ and His teachings. I know for certain that the Book of Mormon is the word of God and that it can bring us closer to Jesus Christ. All we have to do it read it and ask God if it is true. Show more Show less
