Hi I'm Bradford C. Bowen

I'm a Mormon.

About Me

My name is Brad. I have lived in the state of Idaho most of my life. As a small boy, I grew up on a farm near Dubois, Idaho. My dad homesteaded several hundred acres of ground located near a small community called Monteview. I lived there until I was in the sixth grade and then my family moved to a little town south of Idaho Falls, called Shelley. At Shelley, I learned to love sports and played baseball, basketball and competed in track. My senior year of 1970, our team won the state basketball tournament for the first time in the history of the school. I went on to play two years of college basketball for Ricks College, after which I was called to serve a two year mission for my church, in Ontario, Canada. With three wonderful partners, I was blessed to be in the ownership and management of a large farm operation, a ranch operation, a fresh potato shipping operation and a large dehydrated potato business. In recent years, we sold out of these businesses. In the spring of 2011, my wife and I were asked by the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, to oversee and serve with two hundred and forty full time missionaries in Anaheim, California. The call was for three years.

Why I am a Mormon

I have chosen to be a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints because I have come to know that the doctrines and the precepts that are taught in this church are the same as those which were taught in the Church that Jesus Christ established during His earthly ministry. The church is based on a foundation of apostles and prophets, Jesus Christ himself, being the chief cornerstone. The church has been called the Mormon Church after a book called, The Book of Mormon. The Book of Mormon is a volume of holy scripture comparable to the Bible. It is a record of God’s dealings with ancient inhabitants of the Americas and contains the fulness of the everlasting gospel. The crowning event recorded in the Book of Mormon is the personal ministry of the Lord Jesus Christ among the Nephites soon after His resurrection. It puts forth the doctrines of the gospel, outlines the plan of salvation, and tells men what they must do to gain peace in this life and eternal salvation in the life to come. All men everywhere are invited to read the Book of Mormon, to ponder in their hearts the message it contains, and then to ask God, the Eternal Father, in the name of Christ if the book is true. Those who pursue this course and ask in faith will gain a testimony of its truth and divinity by the power of the Holy Ghost. (See Moroni 10:3–5.) I love the Mormon Church because it emphasizes the importance of families. The family is the basic unit of the church and all teachings, principles and doctrines taught in the Mormon Church are for the betterment and eternal progression of the family. To those who have taken the time to read this profile, I testify with humility and sincerity, that what I have written is true.

How I live my faith

My faith has brought me joy and peace. It has stabilized my life and has brought a purpose to it. My faith teaches me to be honest, true, chaste, benevolent, virtuous, and in to do good to all men. I try to follow the admonition of Paul, to believe all things, to hope all things, to endure many things and to hope to be able to endure all things. If there is anything virtuous, lovely, or of good report or praiseworthy, I seek after those things. This pattern has established a foundation for my wife and our five children. The law of the harvest is a true principle. I served as a teacher, a scout leader and a bishop in my church. I also served as a home teacher, one who visits the home of church members to teach and to offer support. I have been involved in many community projects and I supervised a non-profit organization called the Deseret Industries, located in Idaho Falls. I also served on the board of directors for Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center, The Bank of Commerce and Idahoan Foods, all located in Idaho Falls. My hobbies include fishing, golfing, and collecting artifacts. I love to ride horses and I love to be with my family, especially my grandchildren
