Hi I'm Dane

I'm a husband and father from Adelaide, Australia and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm 28 years old; I have been married to my lovely wife for over 4 years. We have a 2.5 year old girl and I love being a dad! She makes us laugh everyday. I have been working as an Estimator for a commercial construction company for the past 6 years and am pretty happy doing what I am doing. I enjoy playing and watching sports, unfortunately it is more watching these days. AFL and Cricket are my favorites (most people hate test cricket, I think it is the ultimate!). I am also interested in world affairs and politics. I love spending time with my wife; we like eating good food together (we like to think that we are foodies and like checking out different restaurants), we are both interested in travelling and we also enjoy watching a good tv box set or movie series together. Our little girl enjoys playing play-doh with us, doll houses and jumping in muddy puddles! When I was 19 I went and served a two year volunteer mission for the church and I was sent to serve in Mozambique, Africa; I absolutely loved my time over there and fell in love with Africa and the people over there. We spoke Portuguese over there and I loved the language, unfortunately can't find many Portuguese speakers in Australia to practise my language with.

Why I am a Mormon

I, along with my three younger siblings, was raised by devoted Mormon parents; it was a great way to grow up! My parents were loving and kind and had great respect and devotion for each other and for us children. When I was in my mid teen years I had to decide for myself if I wanted to follow my parents religion or do something else. I decided that I had to find out for myself if what I had been taught was correct or not. After much study and prayer I received a confirming witness from God through his Spirit that all that I had been taught was correct and that I should dedicate my life to it.

How I live my faith

At church at the moment my wife and I supervise a 'missionary preparation' course. All of those preparing to go and be full-time missionaries for the church in our city can come and attend so that they can better prepare to be more ready to go and serve as full-time missionaries. We have three very good teachers who take turns teaching the course (each has recently served as a full-time missionary themselves). We have been supervising the course for over three and a half years, like all courses at our church, it is free and run by volunteers. The class goes for 90 minutes once a week and it has been great to see so many men and women aged between 19 and 26 prepare so well, then go out and have great experiences all over the world. Since we started we have had students that have attended the course be called to serve throughout Australia, as well as in New Zealand, Taiwan, The Philippines, Fiji, Japan, throughout the USA, in Argentina, France, England, throughout South Africa and in Sierra Leone. There are various other ways that I try to live my faith in the community, at work and at church but I think the most important place to live your faith is at home. I try my hardest to be the best husband and father that I can be.

Can a husband and wife be together forever? Do Mormons believe that families will live together in heaven?

Dane
Certainly! God does not intend for the loving unions we have in this life to not continue in the life hereafter. God has given the authority to his servants to seal families together for all eternity. I had the opportunity to be sealed to my wife; married for time and all eternity, not just until death, by the proper authority. I am completely confident that if we follow God's commandments we will be able to be a family in the next life, for all time. This is my greatest desire. Show more Show less
