Hi I'm Joel

I'm a Mormon. Though I was raised on a cattle ranch, I am more of an urban dweller today.

About Me

I enjoy spending time with my wife and children which can be hard to do when everyone's schedule is so busy! Our family enjoys traveling, music, and meeting new people. We find we have more in common with the people we meet when traveling than actual differences.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I have found great peace and strength in following Jesus Christ. With all the challenges facing each of us in today's world, it is comforting to know that we have a Heavenly Father who loves us so much that he sent us Son to show us the way to return and live with Him. I love being around others who want to serve and help others.

How I live my faith

I have found my faith in Jesus Christ is magified if I look to serve others rather than being self centered. It is challenging to do the right thing at times but when I make good choices, I feel better about myself and learn to appreciate and love those around me. I live my faith by working with teenagers in our church and in our community. They give me energy and hope for a bright future. When I work with youth, I always feel younger and older at the same time!!

What is the Mormon lifestyle like? How do Mormons live?

Joel
It might be hard to believe but, Mormons are actually normal people. We work, play, dance, get mad at our kids/spouse and then, make up and strive to not let it happen again (I am still trying to learn from my mistakes one day at a time; that is why I am grateful for repentance but that is another subject).  I have found that gratitude is a close cousin to happiness. If we learn to be grateful for what we have, we will be happier. For me, being around my family, friends, and having a hope for a life with them after this time on earth gives me great comfort. What are Mormon Temples used for?

Joel
Mormon temples are considered the most sacred place on earth for members next to the place where our family spends the bulk of our time, our home. We believe that everything in the Gospel of Jesus Christ points us to the Temple and everything in the Temple points us towards Jesus Christ. Temples are a place to pray, ponder, and learn, as we participate in ordinances that will enable us to be united as families on this earth and beyond. Temples are a place for us to leave the cares and challenges of this stressful world for a short time and reflect on the things that matter most. In temples, everyone is equal regardless of race, earthly wealth, or gender. Temples are filled with symbolism. They are simple but yet sublime. They are places to bring families together in this life and turn our hearts towards those who have already passed on and those who are yet to be born. They are great blessings to those who are willing to come and learn. I encourage you to learn how you can enter these "houses of the Lord". Show more Show less
