Hi I'm Phillip

I'm a filmmaker. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I feel like I'm at the most exciting time of my life. I recently earned a degree in film and moved to Oregon with my wife, where we're eager to start real life together. I love my career, but the best part of my day is 5pm when I can go home to be with family and friends, try new restaurants, write movies and make travel plans. New adventures are always best when shared.

Why I am a Mormon

I choose to be a Latter-day Saint because I find guidance, peace and truth in this church more than any other. There are many religions in the world, but I believe in Christianity because I feel forgiveness when I ask Jesus Christ to forgive me of my sins. I know he is the son of God, and died to save all of God's children. But there are many branches of Christianity, and each has a very different interpretation of what it means to be saved from your sins. I'm not interested in a man-made church, a church that only teaches what is popular, or a church that believes God said everything He has to say in the Bible and hasn't spoken since. I want to be a part of the original church of Christ, the one He started 2,000 years ago in Jerusalem. Before He died on the cross and was resurrected, Jesus chose apostles to lead his followers. But that ancient church was eventually destroyed and the apostles were killed. After centuries of darkness, I am so happy to know that God spoke again in 1830 and rebuilt the original church of Christ. It is such a blessing to have apostles on the earth again, giving our families a clear voice to follow. I choose to be a Latter-day Saint because this guidance, peace and truth protects me from the dangers of the world and leads me to happiness every day.

How I live my faith

When I put my beliefs into action, I feel true happiness. My life is positive and full of light, and that happiness spreads to the people around me. My volunteer position at church is to invite people to visit the services on Sunday and to learn more about Jesus Christ. I love going to church each week, and being part of the church family. I'm new to the area, but everyone was so welcoming and it made the transition so much easier - with the church, you can feel at home wherever you go. At home I read the Bible and The Book of Mormon. In the last few months I've been working on saying more focused, meaningful prayers, and I feel much closer to Heavenly Father. Since I've found so much happiness at church, I want to share it with everyone by inviting them to learn more!
