Hi I'm David

I'm a Mormon.

About Me

The blessings of being a Mormon started as a young boy growing up in southern California. The blessings of my faith have continued in high school, college and throughout my career in many parts of the United States. I had the privilege of serving full-time mission in Germany and developing a special love for others with different backgrounds and experiences. My wife and I are the parents of 8 great grown children. We have 33 wonderful grandchildren. We love being with our family. Although I spend much of my time as a health care executive, I am a cycling enthusiast and backpacker. I love being out doors. I am currently working with others in our community to develop a 20 mile multi-use paved jogging and bike path around a large lake near where we live.

Why I am a Mormon

I had the privilege of being raised in a Mormon family in southern California and trusted the testimonies of my parent until I was old enough to gain a testimony of my own. As a teenager and young adult I experienced a powerful witness of gospel of Jesus Christ and His teachings found in the Bible and the Book of Mormon. As my wife and I were married, we knelt in a Latter-day Saint Temple and were sealed to each other for time and eternity. The joy of making sacred covenants has been a strength and blessing in my life. These covenants have also been a supported us as parents as we have sought the guidance and direction of a loving Heavenly Father in raising of our family. Each night as we kneel together in prayer, we feel the influence of our Heavenly Father. We are grateful to live on the earth at this time in history and witness the blessings He wants to give His children as we strive to make and keep His covenants. We are especially thankful for the example, sacrifice and Atonement of Jesus Christ and the restoration of His Gospel. We have seen the healing power and the peace it provides in our family and friends. It gives us hope that if we endure our trials well, we may have the blessings of being an eternal family.

How I live my faith

A a member of our church I have the opportunity of visiting other Mormon congregations and seeing how the example of Jesus Christ and following His commandments blesses their lives. A few years ago, I had the privilege of being the leader of a Mormon congregation for young recruits at the Marine Corps Recruit Depot. I witnessed the power of prayer and the blessings that come from studying the scriptures came into their lives. I have found the greatest joy and fulfillment when I am quietly in the service of others. Daily prayer and scripture study has helped me strive to be more like Jesus.

What blessings can you receive from reading the Book of Mormon, the Bible, and other scriptures?

David
Scripture study is a daily part of my life. Each night before we retire, my wife and I read the scriptures together. During these times we frequently receive insights or answers to questions or challenges we have faced. Feasting on the words contained in the scriptures has also given us peace and assurance as we have said good-bye to our dying parents, or mourned at the loss of close friends. Our faith has also been strengthened and given a clearer understanding of God's plan for us. Through reading and studying the Bible and the Book of Mormon, we feel blessed to have access to guidance from the scriptures in a world very much in turmoil. Show more Show less
