Hi I'm Dan

I grew up in Utah and am a school teacher. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a dad with 4 children. I teach high school Spanish and love to be with my family, fish, camp, hunt, play sports and read.

Why I am a Mormon

As a child I attended church regularly with my family. It was during my teenage years that I felt the desire to know for myself if the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints was true. I had been taught that I could pray to God for answers and that he would answer in his own way and time. I decided that if the Book of Mormon was truly a book of scripture then that would mean that Joseph Smith was also a prophet of God. Joseph Smith's claims regarding the book and its origins were truly miraculous and either it was true or he was lying. I decided to take the question to the Lord with confidence that he would answer me. I knelt down and prayed to know if the book was truly scripture written by prophets in the Americas. After the prayer I fully expected some feeling that would confirm the truthfulness of the book to me, but nothing came. I felt nothing that pointed me in either direction. I shrugged it off and thought to myself that God would answer me in time. I kept reading from the Book of Mormon and my answer came quite unexpectedly weeks after I had said the prayer. I felt a feeling a peace wash over me and knew with certainty that this was an answer to my prayer. I have felt that same feeling many times through out the years as I have participated actively in the church. As I have studied the Bible and the Book of Mormon I have been amazed at how the two complement each other and reinforce the teaching of the gospel. I am truly a better person because of my affiliation with this church and that is why I am a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints

How I live my faith

I live my faith first by trying to be a good husband and father. I do my best to live as Christ would have me live. I try to be kind and thoughtful of others. I must admit that I am less then perfect but I do try to repent quickly. I try to look out for and encourage those who I associate with and help them live the gospel. I have the opportunity to teach the gospel during some of our church meetings as well as go to the homes of individuals and share messages about Christ and his church.

Why do Mormons believe in the Bible?

We believe the bible is the word of God as long as it is translated correctly. We use the King James version officially in the church. This is the version that is considered to be the best translation that we have access to. I personally love to read the New Testament. It gives me so much insight into who my Savior is and what I can do to be like him. Currently I am just starting to read the Old Testament. I feel like this is the book of scripture that I am the least familiar with, so I decided it was time to read it again. Show more Show less
