Hi I'm Darby

I'm a high school theatre teacher. I love creating thing out of "junk", being resourceful, music, art, reading, and blogging.

About Me

I grew up on a farming ranch in rural Idaho. I am the youngest of four children... by six years. I am an only child with siblings! Although I grew up with cowboys and cowgirls, I LOVE theatre! I studied Theatre Education at the university where I met my husband. I now am a teacher at a charter high school, where I run the theatre program and teach other elective classes. Although my husband and I really want children we haven't been able to have any yet. This can be really discouraging at times, especially when so many people around us have children. So while we are waiting to start our family I teach school and have the opportunity to influence the lives of others.

Why I am a Mormon

I was raised in a family of members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. As a child, I learned about my Heavenly Father and his Son, Jesus Christ. As I followed the counsel of my church leaders and parents, read The Book of Mormon, and prayed I felt in my heart that things I was reading and being taught are true. As I go throughout my life I see Heavenly Father's hand in my life. As I've made mistakes and sought to right the errors in my life I have felt the love of Christ and know that He suffered so that I can return to live with my Father in Heaven. I know that families can be united together for eternity.

How I live my faith

I currently play the piano for the children's singing time in Primary, a time when the children meet as a group and sing and learn about Christ and the gospel. I also go to gathering and activities with the other women in my ward. At home I try to read my scriptures everyday. I say prayers when I wake up, before I eat, and when I go to bed. My husband and I read scriptures together everyday and pray together as a couple and family every morning and night. We attend our church meetings every Sunday, and go to the temple a couple of times each month. We have found that by doing the before mentioned we are able to keep our marriage relationship healthy and strong.
